Quick BI:Colored Map

Last Updated:Dec 04, 2025

A colored map uses color shades to show the size and distribution of data. This topic describes how to add data to a colored map and configure its style.

Prerequisites

  • A dashboard has been created. For more information, see Create a dashboard.

  • The geographical area has been switched. For more information, see Configure a field.

    Note

If you add a geographic area field, such as area, to a chart, the field is recognized as geographic information only if the 地理 icon is displayed in a red box. For a detailed comparison table of regions, see public-area-info.xlsx. This table is intended for geographic area matching reference only and does not represent the political stance of Quick BI.

Limits

A colored map requires a Geographic Area/Dimension and a Color Saturation/Measure.

  • The geographic area is determined by a dimension. You can select only one dimension, and it must be a geographic information field, such as a province.

  • Color saturation is determined by a measure. You can select at least one and up to five measures, such as Order amount and Profit amount.

Overview

Scenarios

Colored maps are used to display spatially distributed data and are ideal for datasets that contain geographic information. These maps show continuous information aggregated by region. The position of shapes on the map represents geographic locations, and their colors indicate the data distribution across those locations.

Advantages

  • Visualization: Supports area-style maps.

  • Interaction: You can select and zoom in on the map, switch measures, and filter data within the widget.

  • In the Map Area section, you can set Display Range and Outline and Fill.

    image

    • Display Range: Select Auto or Custom. The custom range options depend on the selected fields. For this example, select China.

      Note
      • Auto automatically adjusts the display range based on the data. Custom lets you manually set the range. In interactive analysis scenarios, the display range is always automatically adjusted based on the data.

      • The Custom display range supports continents and countries worldwide, and regions, provinces, and cities in China.

      image

Enable Manual Adjustment to automatically generate the current Centroid and Scaling values. You can then modify these values.

      image

    • In the Outline and Fill settings, you can configure whether to show area names and outlines. You can also set the area fill color and the outline color.

      Note

Outlines are not supported for some regions.

      111

  • In the Base Map section, you can configure the Display Base Map, Base Map Style, and Display Global Base Map settings.

    • Display Base Map: Click the image switch to show or hide the base map.111

    • Base Map Style: Select a style for the Amap base map.

      111

    • Display Global Base Map: Select this option to display global information, such as cities, on the base map.111

      Note

Global base map limits: Each Quick BI organization can initialize map charts that contain data for regions outside China up to 1,000 times per month. This limit is based on the number of base map initializations. After this limit is reached, the base map displays information for mainland China only.

  • In the Area section, you can configure the Area Color and Extreme Value Color.

    • Area Color: Sets the theme color, transparency, and data mapping range for a selected measure series.

If the data you need to analyze is in different charts, you can use filter interactions to link the charts for data analysis. For more information, see Filter Interaction.

Jump

If the data you need to analyze is in multiple dashboards, you can use the jump feature to link the dashboards for data analysis. The jump feature includes two methods: Parameter Jump and External Link. For more information, see Jump.

Annotate

-

If data in a chart is abnormal or requires special attention, you can annotate it by highlighting it with color, or adding icons, comments, or data points. This helps you identify anomalies and take action. For more information, see Annotate.
