FileZilla is a convenient and highly-efficient FTP client.

FileZilla interface layout
The FileZilla interface page is laid out as follows:
- Upper section: tool bar and message logs.
- Left-side section: local area, that is, local disk.
- Right-side section: remote area, that is, remote server.
- Lower section: transmission queue. You can view the queue window and file transmission progress in this area.
FileZilla usage
Connect to remote sites
- Start FileZilla.
- Click File > Site Manager > New Site.
- Enter the site information:
- Host: Enter your Web Hosting instance FTP address, for example, “xxxxxxftp.aliwebs.com”.
- Port: Enter “21”.
- Protocol: Select FTP - File Transfer Protocol.
- Encryption: Select Only use plain FTP.
- Login Type: Select Normal.
- User: Enter the Web Hosting FTP user name.
- Password: Enter the FTP password of the Web Hosting instance.
- Click Connect.
Manage files
Right-click at the local site or remote site to create, delete, or rename a file or directory.
Upload files
Note: For Linux system, upload your website files to the /htdocs
directory. This is the root directory of your website.
- Start FileZilla, and connect to the Web Hosting space.
- Open the target directory in the Web Hosting space.
- Locate the files to be uploaded in the local directory, and then drag them to the root directory of the Web Hosting space, or right-click the files, click Upload, and then upload the files following the procedures.
Display the hidden files
Click Server > Force showing hidden files.
