Account Center:Identity verification overview

Identity verification confirms your legal identity with Alibaba Cloud, and is required to purchase specific cloud services deployed in the Chinese mainland, sign online contracts, or meet regulatory requirements.

Why verification is required

Verification protects your account from unauthorized access and identity theft. It is also required for the following actions:

  • Purchasing region-locked services: Specific cloud services on Chinese mainland nodes, and Global Accelerator (GA) services including the Chinese mainland, require verification for legal compliance.

  • Signing online contracts: Alibaba Cloud online contracts require a verified account.

  • Applying for a credit limit: Available only to verified accounts.

  • Joining the Alibaba Cloud Partner Network (ACPN): Requires verification.

  • Changing your mobile number across countries: Updating the account mobile number to one from a different country or region requires verification.

Individual and enterprise verification

Verify your account as either an individual or an enterprise. This choice is permanent.

Important

Individual and enterprise verification are mutually exclusive. After verification, the account type is locked. Choose the correct type before proceeding.

Account impact

Account type is set to Individual and cannot be changed. The name on the account is updated to match the verification documents.

Account type is set to Enterprise and cannot be changed. The company name on the account is updated to match the business documents.

One identity per account

Each account supports only one verification: individual or enterprise.

Permanent verification

After identity verification is complete, you cannot unbind or modify the verification information directly in the console. To update enterprise details such as your company name or address, contact your account manager or submit a ticket to request a verification reset. Once cleared, resubmit your verification using the new credentials. The account's company name will be updated automatically upon approval.

Note

Changing verification information does not affect existing cloud resources or services under your account. If you no longer need the account, you may choose to close it instead.

Document consistency

The verification document's issuing country or region must match the account's Country/Region setting.

Account type lock-in

After verification, the account type (Individual or Enterprise) is locked and cannot be changed.
