This topic provides answers to some commonly asked questions about cloud computer images.

Can cloud computers use public images, custom images, or Alibaba Cloud Marketplace images of Elastic Cloud Service (ECS) in WUYING Workspace?

No, cloud computers can use only built-in system images, shared images, and custom images in WUYING Workspace.

Can I change the image of a cloud computer?

Yes, you can change the image of a cloud computer, regardless of whether the image is a system image, shared image, or custom image.

You must select a method to change the image of a cloud computer based on the template used by the cloud computer.

How do I determine the template type of a cloud computer?

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace (Pro Edition) console.

  2. On the Cloud Computers page of the WUYING Workspace Pro Edition console, find the desired cloud computer, click its ID, and then check the values of Template Name and Template ID on the Cloud Computer Details tab.

  3. Copy the value of Template ID and paste the ID in the search box on the Templates page. Then, view the Type column of the searched template.

Cloud computers that are created based on system templates

If the cloud computer whose image you want to change is created based on a system template, you can directly change the image. For more information, see Change the image of a cloud computer or cloud computer pool.

Cloud computers that are created based on custom templates

If the cloud computer whose image you want to change is created based on a custom template, you can use one of the following methods to change the image:

How long does it take to create a custom image?

It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to create a custom image. You can create a custom image based on an existing cloud computer. The amount of time required to complete image creation depends on the data size of the cloud computer.

What do I do if I always fail to create a custom image?

The following table describes the possible causes of and corresponding solutions to image creation failure.

Solution

The administrator installs anti-virus software on the cloud computer that is used to create the custom image. During the image creation process, the software disables the WUYING components in the image. As a result, the image creation fails.

Contact the administrator to uninstall such software from the cloud computer and then try to recreate the custom image.

During the image creation process, the administrator changes the image of the cloud computer that is used to create the custom image. As a result, the image conflict occurs and the image creation fails.

Inform the administrator not to change the image of the cloud computer during the image creation process.

During the image creation process, the administrator deletes the cloud computer that is used to create the custom image. As a result, the image creation fails.

Inform the administrator not to delete the cloud computer during the image creation process.
