Data Management:Log on to a database instance

This topic describes how to log on to a database instance in the Data Management (DMS) console. This topic also describes how to log on to a database instance by using another database account in the DMS console.

Prerequisites

  • The account used to log on to the database instance is granted the permissions on the databases and tables.

  • The database instance is managed in Flexible Management or Stable Change mode. For more information, see Control modes.

Procedure

Log on to a database instance in the database instance list in the DMS console

Before you log on to a database instance in the database instance list in the DMS console, make sure that your database instance is registered with DMS. For more information, see Register an Alibaba Cloud database instance.

  1. Log on to the DMS console V5.0.
  2. In the left-side database instance list, find the database instance that you want to log on to and right-click the instance.

    Note

    Database instances are displayed in the Logon-free Instances, Instances Connected, and Instances Disconnected sections.

  3. Click Login Instance.

  4. In the Login Instance dialog box, configure the Database Account and Database Password parameters.

    Note

    The Database Account parameter specifies the username of the account that is used to log on to the database instance. Do not enter the database name.

  5. Click OK.

    After you log on to the database instance, the SQLConsole tab appears. You can perform operations on the databases based on your business requirements.

In this example, an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance is used.

  1. On the Instances page in the ApsaraDB RDS console, find the instance to which you want to log on, and then click its name.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Accounts to view the account names.

    Note

    If you forget the password of the account that you want to use, click Reset Password in the Actions column. For more information, see Reset the password of an account on an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance.

  3. In the upper part of the instance details page, click Log On to Database.

    You are navigated to the DMS console. The Log on to Database Instance dialog box appears.

  4. Configure the Database Account and Database Password parameters.

    Note

    The Database Account parameter specifies the username of the account that is used to log on to the database instance. Do not enter the database name.

  5. Click Login.
