This topic provides answers to some frequently asked questions about global operations on alerts.

How do I specify the region of the project to which Alert Center belongs?

  • Select the region of the project to which Alert Center belongs if this is the first time you use the new alerting feature

    If this is the first time you use the new alerting feature, select the region of the project to which Alert Center belongs by following on-screen instructions.

    After you select a region, Simple Log Service creates a project named sls-alert-Alibaba Cloud account ID-Region and a Logstore named internal-alert-center-log for the region. The Logstore is used to store alert data.

  • Change the region of the project to which Alert Center belongs

    1. Log on to the Simple Log Service console.

    2. In the Projects section, click a project.

    3. In the left-side navigation pane, click the Alerts icon.

    4. On the Alert Center page, choose Others > Resource data.

    5. In the upper-right corner of the page, turn off Hide Metadata.

    6. In the list that appears, find sls.alert.global_config and click Data in the Actions column.

    7. In the Data Management dialog box, find the configuration item default_config and click Edit in the Actions column.

    8. In the Edit Data dialog box, modify the region information in Config Content and click OK.

How do I use custom query statements to analyze alert logs?

Simple Log Service records the lifecycle of each alert as a log and stores the log in a dedicated Logstore. The Logstore is provided free of charge. You can use custom query statements to analyze alert logs in the Logstore. For more information, see Use custom query statements to analyze alert logs.

Alert logs can be retained only for 30 days. What do I do if I want to retain alert logs for more than 30 days?

Alert logs are stored in a Logstore named internal-alert-center-log. The Logstore is provided free of charge. Alert logs are retained for 30 days in the Logstore. The retention period cannot be changed.

If you want to retain alert logs for more than 30 days, you can use the data transformation feature to copy the logs to a different Logstore and specify a longer retention period. You are charged for this Logstore. For more information, see Replicate data from a Logstore.
