Last Updated:Jul 14, 2023

ApsaraDB MyBase for MySQL supports the automatic backup feature and the manual backup feature. You can use the backup features to restore your historical data.

Introduction to the backup features of ApsaraDB for MyBase

ApsaraDB for MyBase provides the following backup features: the full backup feature and the incremental backup feature. The full backup feature is also known as the data backup feature. The incremental backup feature is also known as the log backup feature.

  • The data backup feature. The system backs up data and generates a data backup set. You can restore data to the point in time when a data backup set is created.

  • The log backup feature. The log backup feature is also known as the incremental backup feature. If you enable the log backup feature, your on-premises logs are uploaded. This way, log backups are generated. You can use the data backup feature and the log backup feature to restore data to a point in time that falls within the restoration duration.

For example, if an ApsaraDB for MyBase instance has a data backup set that is created at 00:00:01 on January 1, 2021 and log backups that are generated after the time, you can restore data for the instance to a point in time (accurate to seconds) that is after 00:00:01 on January 1, 2021.

Storage location of backups

The data backups and log backups of an ApsaraDB for MyBase instance are stored in backup space that is provided by Alibaba Cloud. The backups do not occupy the storage space of the instance.

The region where the backups are stored is the same as the region where the ApsaraDB for MyBase instance is deployed.
