Cloud Data Transfer:Internet data transfers

Last Updated:Apr 08, 2024

This topic describes the line types and pricing of Internet data transfers provided by Cloud Data Transfer (CDT) and provides billing examples. This topic also compares the prices for Internet data transfers of CDT with the prices for Internet data transfers of other services.

Line types

The line types of Internet data transfers are BGP (Multi-ISP) and BGP (Multi-ISP) Pro in CDT. The following table describes the line types and the services supported by CDT. BGP is short for Border Gateway Protocol.

Line type

Line advantage

Supported service

BGP (Multi-ISP)

BGP (Multi-ISP) lines are premium BGP lines that cover multiple regions across the world. BGP lines from different Internet service providers (ISPs) can be used. The optimal BGP line is automatically selected to ensure network stability. Supported ISPs are China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile, China Mobile Tietong, China Netcom, China Education and Research Network (CERNET), National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA), Dr.Peng Group, and Founder Broadband.

  • Elastic Compute Service (ECS)

  • Elastic IP Address (EIP)

  • Classic Load Balancer (CLB)

  • Internet Shared Bandwidth

  • Anycast EIP

  • IPv6 Gateway

  • Global Accelerator (GA)

  • Function Compute

BGP (Multi-ISP) Pro

BGP (Multi-ISP) Pro lines optimize data transmission to the Chinese mainland and improve connection quality for international services. Compared with BGP (Multi-ISP) lines, when BGP (Multi-ISP) Pro lines provide services to users in the Chinese mainland (excluding data centers), cross-border connections are established by using Chinese mainland ISP services. This reduces network latency.

  • Internet Shared Bandwidth

Pricing of Internet data transfers

You can use CDT to aggregate and bill the Internet data transfers of multiple Alibaba Cloud services in each region that provide access to the Internet based on tiered pricing. CDT provides multiple price tiers for Internet data transfers. The unit prices vary based on price tiers. You can multiply the amount of the used Internet data transfers by the unit price of the Internet data transfers in the corresponding tier, and then sum the fees calculated based on the tiered prices to learn about the total data transfer fee.

Pricing of Internet data transfers over BGP lines

Important

Starting from April 8, 2024, the quota of free Internet data transfers provided by CDT is increased from 20 GB/month to 200 GB/month. Among the 200 GB of Internet data transfers, 20 GB can be used in global regions (including regions in the Chinese mainland) and the other 180 GB can be used only in regions outside the Chinese mainland.

Note
  1. The first 200 GB of Internet data transfers per month is free of charge. Among the 200 GB of Internet data transfers, 20 GB can be used in regions in the Chinese mainland. The portion of Internet data transfers greater than 200 GB are accumulated starting from 0.

  2. For more information about supported regions, see Regions in which CDT supports billing for Internet data transfers excluding Internet data transfers over BGP (Multi-ISP) Pro lines.

  3. 1 TB is equal to 1,024 GB.

  4. CDT allows you to use data transfer plans to offset Internet data transfers that fall into Tier 1 (0 TB to 10 TB). Data transfer plans can be used to offset the Internet data transfers generated by ECS, EIP, CLB, and Internet Shared Bandwidth that use the pay-by-data-transfer metering method. Data transfer plans cannot be used to offset the Internet data transfers generated by Function Compute. For more information, see What is a data transfer plan?

  5. The actual prices on your bills prevail.
