Hologres:Use Holo Shipper

Last Updated:Aug 01, 2023

Holo Shipper is a migration tool in Hologres. The tool allows you to migrate Hologres tables to implement offline backup in the Hologres ecosystem. You can use Holo Shipper to migrate tables between Hologres instances or to dump and restore tables.

Background information

You can use the offline backup tool Holo Shipper provided by Hologres to migrate data. Holo Shipper allows you to migrate full data or some table data from an instance or a database to another instance or database. You can also export data to an intermediate storage medium and then import the data to Hologres. You can use Holo Shipper to import and export a large amount of data at a time. This simplifies operations and improves the efficiency of data migration. Holo Shipper is available on GitHub. For more information, see Holo Shipper.

Limits

  • Holo Shipper is supported only by Hologres V1.1 and later. If the version of your Hologres instance is earlier than V1.1, manually upgrade your Holgores instance in the Hologres console or join the Hologres DingTalk group for technical support. For more information about how to manually upgrade your Hologres instance in the Hologres console, see Instance upgrades. For more information about how to obtain technical support, see Obtain online support for Hologres.

  • Holo Shipper can be used only by superusers of Hologres instances. If you are not a superuser, the system prompts that you do not have the required permissions.

  • When you use Holo Shipper, make sure that you can access the source and destination tables and that you have set up a Java environment for Hologres.

  • When you use Holo Shipper, make sure that no data is being written to source tables.
