Manage Dashboards

The following article provides an insight on how to manage dashboards. Moreover, it provides information about how you can create, modify, delete dashboards, and view charts on them.

View dashboards

Scenario

The dashboard function supports custom display of metric data. You can view metric data on a monitoring dashboard across many products and instances in a centralized manner.

Note:

  • CloudMonitor initializes ECS monitoring dashboards for you and displays ECS metric data.

  • Data of one hour, three hours, and six hours can be automatically refreshed. However, data of more than six hours cannot be automatically refreshed.

Dashboard parameter description:

  • Select the time range: To select the timeframe for displaying metric data on the dashboard, click Timeframe selection at the top of the Monitoring dashboard page. The selected time range will apply to all the charts of the monitoring dashboard.

  • Automatic refresh: To enable the auto-refresh function, click Automatic refresh button. Now, you can select the time range that is “one hour”,“three hours” or“six hours”. On the basis of your selection, the data gets refreshed every minute.

  • In the chart name, the unit of metrics is displayed in brackets.

  • Hover the mouse over the metric values of all charts to view the values at the same point of time.

Procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor.

  2. Click the Dashboard option from the left menu bar, to access the Dashboard page.

    By default, ECS global dashboard initialized by CloudMonitor is displayed.

  3. Click the monitoring dashboard name and select another monitoring dashboard from the drop-down list.

  4. Click Full screen in the upper-right corner of the page to view the monitoring dashboard in a full-screen mode.

Create a dashboard

Scenario

You can create a new monitoring dashboard and customize the display charts, when your business operations are complex and the default ECS monitoring dashboards does not meet monitoring visualization requirements.

Procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor.

  2. Click the Dashboard option from the left menu bar to access the Dashboard page.

  3. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Create dashboard.

  4. Enter the name of the monitoring dashboard, and click Create to complete the action.

    The page is automatically redirected to the new monitoring dashboard page where you can add various metric charts as required.

Switch dashboards

Scenario

If you create multiple monitoring dashboards, you can view the monitoring charts of the different dashboards by switching monitoring dashboards.

Procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor.
  1. Click the Dashboard option in the left menu bar to access the Dashboard page.

  2. Click the name of a monitoring dashboard in the upper-left corner of the page.

    All monitoring dashboards created by you will be displayed. You can switch to another dashboard by selecting the expected dashboard name.

Modify a dashboard

Scenario

You can modify a monitoring dashboard if you need to change the name as per the changes in the content of the monitoring dashboard.

Procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor.

  2. Click the Dashboard option in the left menu bar to access the Dashboard page.

  3. You can view the Settings icon option when hovering the mouse over the monitoring dashboard title. Click edit icon to edit and now you can change the name.

Delete a dashboard

Scenario

You can delete a monitoring dashboard as per your business requirements.

Note:

• When you delete a monitoring dashboard, all monitoring charts that are added to the dashboards will be deleted.

• Monitoring data cannot be restored once being deleted. Hence, be careful before deleting any monitoring dashboard.

Procedure

  1. Log on to CloudMonitor.

  2. Click the Dashboard option in the left menu bar to access the Dashboard page.

  3. Click the Delete Current Dashboard button in the upper-right corner of the page. With this action, the dashboard will be deleted.
