Last Updated:Apr 07, 2024

This topic describes the impacts of the service expiration and overdue payments on your database instances that you register with Data Management (DMS) and provides solutions for you.

Service expiration

The following table describes the impacts of service expiration and the methods that you can use to enable the database instances that are disabled due to service expiration.

Control mode or feature

Solution

Stable Change mode

If the quota for the Stable Change mode is exhausted, DMS randomly disables one or more database instances that are managed in Stable Change mode.

You can use one of the following methods to resolve the issue:

  • Increase the quota for the Stable Change mode. Then, enable the one or more disabled database instances.

    Important

If you use this method, the previous configuration of the instances may be changed.

  • Change the control mode of the one or more disabled database instances to Flexible Management. Then, enable the disabled database instances.

  • Change the control mode of one or more database instances that are managed in Stable Change mode to Flexible Management. In this case, the quota for the Stable Change mode becomes available. Then, enable the disabled database instances.

Note

For more information about how to change the control mode, see Change the control mode of an instance.

Security Collaboration mode

If the quota for the Security Collaboration mode is exhausted, DMS randomly disables one or more database instances that are managed in Security Collaboration mode.

You can use one of the following methods to resolve the issue:

  • Increase the quota for the Security Collaboration mode. Then, enable the one or more disabled database instances.

Note

For more information about how to change the control mode, see Change the control mode of an instance.

Sensitive data protection

If the quota for the sensitive data protection feature is exhausted, DMS randomly disables one or more database instances for which the feature is enabled.

You can use one of the following methods to resolve the issue:

  • Increase the quota for the feature. Then, enable the one or more disabled database instances.

    Important

If you use this method, the previous configuration of the instances may be changed.

  • Disable the feature for the one or more database instances that are disabled in DMS. Then, enable the disabled database instances.

  • Disable the feature for one or more database instances. In this case, the quota for the feature becomes available. Then, enable the disabled database instances.

Note

For more information about how to disable the sensitive data protection feature, see Disable the sensitive data protection feature.

Note

Overdue payments

If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, a control mode or the sensitive data protection feature that you purchase by using the pay-as-you-go billing method becomes overdue. The following table describes the impacts of overdue payments on your database instances and the methods that you can use to enable the database instances that are disabled due to overdue payments.

FAQ

  • What is the impact on my database instances whose control modes are purchased by using the subscription billing method if my Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment that is caused by a service or a feature?

Your database instances whose control modes are purchased by using the subscription billing method are not affected. However, all services and features that you purchase by using the pay-as-you-go billing method within your Alibaba Cloud account become overdue.

  • Can I continue using a database instance if it is disabled in the DMS console?

Yes. A database instance that is disabled in DMS becomes unavailable in DMS. However, the database instance is still available for other Alibaba Cloud services.
