Data Management:Pricing

Last Updated:Jan 26, 2024

This topic describes the pricing of Data Management (DMS), including billable items, billing methods, and prices.

Usage notes

  • You cannot change the billing method of DMS resources from pay-as-you-go to subscription or from subscription to pay-as-you-go.

  • DMS does not support the offset of fees for resources billed in different billing methods and at different prices.

For example, if you purchase a pay-as-you-go instance managed in Security Collaboration mode, you cannot purchase a subscription instance managed in Security Collaboration mode to offset the fees of the pay-as-you-go instance. If you want to use subscription resources, you must unsubscribe from pay-as-you-go resources and then purchase subscription resources. For more information, see Purchase the DMS service and Unsubscribe from billable features.

Description

Control mode

The subscription and pay-as-you-go billing methods are supported.

  • Subscription: For more information, see the Subscription section of this topic.

  • Pay-as-you-go:

    • Stable Change: USD 1 per instance per day

    • Security Collaboration: USD 2 per instance per day

  • If an instance is managed in Stable Change or Security Collaboration mode, you are charged for the instance.

  • If an instance is managed in Flexible Management mode, you can use the instance free of charge.

For more information about the control modes, see Control modes.

Note

You can stop using a pay-as-you-go control mode at any time. This helps you save costs. For more information, see Unsubscribe from billable features.

Sensitive data protection

The subscription and pay-as-you-go billing methods are supported.

  • Subscription: USD 31.25 per instance per month

  • Pay-as-you-go: USD 1.56 per instance per day

  • The sensitive data protection feature of DMS helps you recognize, mask, and manage sensitive data. For more information, see Overview.

  • This feature can be enabled for instances that are managed in Flexible Management, Stable Change, or Security Collaboration mode. You are charged for this feature if it is enabled.

Note

You can disable the sensitive data protection feature for an instance or unsubscribe from the sensitive data protection feature that you purchased for an instance in pay-as-you-go mode at any time. This helps you save costs. For more information, see Disable the sensitive data protection feature and Unsubscribe from billable features.

For more information about the pricing of Data Transmission Service (DTS) features such as data migration, data synchronization, and change tracking, see Billable items.

Subscription

After you purchase a subscription resource plan for a control mode, you can upgrade the resource plan if the number of instances to be managed in this control mode exceeds the quota of the resource plan. For more information, see Upgrade service specifications.

Note

When DMS calculates the number of instances, normal and disabled instances are counted. Deleted instances are not counted. You can view the status of an instance on the Instance List tab of the Instances page.

FAQ

Q: Why are fees incurred after I purchase a pay-as-you-go DMS resource but do not use the resource?

A: After you purchase a pay-as-you-go resource, fees are continuously incurred for the resource. In scenarios where you no longer need to use a paid DMS feature for an instance, you must manually unsubscribe from the feature or allocate the quota to another instance. For example, the instance is released or is deleted in DMS. The feature cannot be automatically unsubscribed in DMS. For more information, see Unsubscribe from billable features.
