Alibaba Cloud DNS:Disable or enable a DNS record

Last Updated:Nov 28, 2023

Disable or enable a DNS record

  • You can disable a Domain Name System (DNS) record that is added in the Alibaba Cloud DNS console. This operation takes effect immediately. After a DNS record is disabled, the DNS record can still be queried by DNS requests until the time-to-live (TTL) period for caching the DNS record on local DNS servers expires. The TTL period is specified in the Alibaba Cloud DNS console.

  • You can enable a DNS record that is added in the Alibaba Cloud DNS console. This operation takes effect immediately.

Note

Some Internet service providers (ISPs) may adjust the TTL periods for caching DNS records on their local DNS servers. As a result, disabled DNS records can still be queried within a long period of time. Adjustment of TTL periods is beyond the control of Alibaba Cloud.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DNS console.

  2. On the Authoritative Domain Names tab of the Domain Name Resolution page, click the desired domain name to go to the DNS Settings page.

  3. On the DNS Settings page, find the desired DNS record and click Disable in the Actions column. Then, the DNS record is in the Disabled state.

  4. On the DNS Settings page, find the desired DNS record and click Enable in the Actions column. Then, the DNS record is in the Enable state.
