Drive and Photo Service (Developer Edition) provides two storage classes: locally redundant storage (LRS) and zone-redundant storage (ZRS). These storage classes provide data redundancy across single or multiple zones to ensure data durability and availability.
Supported regions
China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Beijing), China (Zhangjiakou), China (Shenzhen), China (Hong Kong), Germany (Frankfurt), Indonesia (Jakarta), and Singapore.
LRS
LRS uses a data redundancy mechanism within a single zone (AZ). It stores redundant copies of your data on multiple devices in different facilities within the same zone. This ensures data durability and availability in the event of hardware failures.
Data in LRS is stored within a single zone. If that zone becomes unavailable, the data becomes inaccessible.
ZRS
ZRS uses a data redundancy mechanism across multiple zones (AZs). It stores redundant copies of your data across multiple zones within the same region. When a zone becomes unavailable, ZRS continues to provide normal access to your data.
If a data center becomes unavailable due to an event such as a network outage, power failure, or disaster, Drive and Photo Service continues to operate with strong consistency. The entire failover process is transparent to users and results in no data loss. This design meets the requirements of mission-critical systems for recovery within minutes and a recovery point objective (RPO) of 0.
