You can use a custom image to quickly create multiple cloud computers with the same settings. This prevents the trouble of repeating operations when you create the cloud computers. This topic describes how to create a custom image.
Background
Images are region-bound resources. You cannot use images of a region to create cloud computers in another region. When you create a custom image, make sure that the image and the cloud computer that you want to create from the image belong to the same region. For example, if you want to create a cloud computer in the China (Hangzhou) region, then you must use a custom image from the China (Hangzhou) region.
You can use a cloud computer or a snapshot of the cloud computer to create a custom image. You can also import an image from your on-premises machine to the WUYING Workspace Pro Edition console and use the imported image to generate a custom image.
You cannot delete an image that is being created.
The time that is required to create an image varies based on the size of data on the cloud computer that is used to create the image.
You cannot shut down or restart the computer that is used to create a custom image during the image creation process. Otherwise, image creation fails.
Prerequisites
A cloud computer or cloud computer pool is created if you want to use a cloud computer or a cloud computer pool to create an image. For more information, see Create cloud computers or Create a personal cloud computer pool.
A system disk snapshot is created if you want to use a snapshot to create an image. For more information, see Use snapshots (public preview).
Create an image by using a cloud computer
You can create an image based on a cloud computer to save and copy the OS or data of the cloud computer. The created image can be used to create cloud computers with the same settings.
Log on to the WUYING Workspace (Pro Edition) console.
Create an image by using one of the following methods:
Create an image on the Images page
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.
On the Images page, click Create Image.
Create an image on the Cloud Computers page
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.
On the Cloud Computers page, find the cloud computer that you want to use to create the image, click the ⋮ icon in the Actions column, and then choose Create Image.
Create an image based on a pooled cloud computer
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.
On the Cloud Computer Pools page, find the cloud computer pool that you want to manage and click the cloud computer pool ID.
On the Cloud Computer Information tab, find the cloud computer that you want to use to create the image, click the ⋮ icon in the Actions column, and then choose Create Image.
In the Create Image panel, configure the following parameters and click Create.

Enter a name for the image. Make sure that the name meets the naming conventions.
NoteThe name must be 2 to 128 characters in length. It must start with a letter but cannot start with
http://orhttps://. The name can contain letters, digits, colons (:), underscores (_), and hyphens (-).Clean Personal Residual Data
Specify whether to clean personal data. By default, Clean Personal Residual Data is turned on to prevent personal data and logon information from being retained in the image.
NoteIf you use an encrypted cloud computer, you cannot configure this parameter.
Before you enable or disable this feature, take note of the following items:
Enable Clean Personal Residual Data
The system clears the personal data of users. This may extend the duration of image creation (by about 20 minutes).
The following data is cleared:
Linux cloud computers
The cleanup operation affects only the generated image. The generated image file does not contain data of common users and data stored in the
/homedirectory. Data of the root user, applications installed in the system, and data generated by the applications are not affected.Windows cloud computers
The cleanup operation affects only the generated image. In the generated image, data of users is cleared except for data in the
C:\Users\AdministratorandC:\Users\Publicdirectories.C:\Users\Administrator,C:\Users\Public, installed applications, and data generated by the applications are not affected.
Disable Clean Personal Residual Data
If you disable Clean Personal Residual Data, the system does not clear any personal data. The data of the generated image is the same as the data of the cloud computer. In this case, personal data may be leaked.
Scope
Valid values:
System Disk and Data Disk: The image that you create contains the data on the system disk and data disk of the cloud computer. The cloud computers that are created based on the image also contain the same data on their system disks and data disks as the source cloud computer.
System Disk Only: The image that you create contains only data on the system disk of the cloud computer. The cloud computers that are created based on the image contain the same data on their system disks as the source cloud computer. However, their data disks are empty.
ImportantIf you create a custom image based on a Linux cloud computer and set Scope to System Disk and Data Disk, the Clean Personal Residual Data feature is not supported.
Description
Enter a description for the image based on your business requirements. By default, if you do not specify this parameter, the image name is used as the image description.
Select Cloud Computer
This parameter is required only if you create an image on the Images page.
Create an image by using a snapshot
A snapshot is a data status file of a disk at a specific point in time. It can be used to back up and restore data. You can use a snapshot to create a custom image to make a copy of the operating system and data of a cloud computer. The custom image can then be used to create more cloud computers with the same settings.
You can use a snapshot of only the system disk of a cloud computer to create images.
Use one of the following methods to create an image based on a snapshot:
Create an image on the Snapshots tab
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.
On the Cloud Computers page, find the cloud computer that you want to manage and click its ID.
On the Snapshots tab, find the system disk snapshot that you want to use to create a snapshot and click Create Image in the Actions column.
Create an image on the Snapshots page
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.
On the Snapshots tab, find the system disk snapshot that you want to use to create an image and click Create Image in the Actions column.
In the Create Image panel, set the Image Name and Description parameters and click Create.
Create an image from an imported image
You can create an image on your on-premises computer and import the image to the WUYING Workspace Pro Edition console to generate a custom image. For more information, see Import an image.
View and manage custom images
In the left-side navigation pane, choose . On the Custom Image tab, you can view the status and progress of images.
If an image is created, the state of the image changes from Creating to Available, and the progress of the image changes to 100%.
If you fail to create the image, the state of the image changes from Creating to Failed. In this case, you can click Delete in the Actions column to delete the image and try to create another image.
