Compared with traditional solutions, Compute Nest provides delivery and O&M for applications in an intelligent, efficient, secure, and reliable manner. This helps service providers develop service capabilities and reduce operating costs.

Intelligence and efficiency

Compute Nest is an intelligent and efficient solution that allows service providers to publish and manage services. Service providers can manage the entire service lifecycle, including service delivery, service deployment, and service O&M. Compute Nest integrates multiple underlying Alibaba Cloud capabilities to provide the following benefits for service providers:

  • Standardizes and automates service delivery and deployment.
  • Allows all Alibaba Cloud users to subscribe to the published services. This greatly saves delivery costs.
  • Allows service providers to implement hosted O&M for the deployed services based on features such as end-to-end detection, troubleshooting, and smart fault detection.

Compared with traditional solutions, Compute Nest automates service delivery and deployment for service providers. This improves the efficiency for service delivery, deployment, and O&M, and greatly reduces operating costs.

Compute Nest is a solution that allows customers to manage multiple application services in one console. Compute Nest provides the following benefits for Alibaba Cloud users and customers:

  • Provides quick and simple operations for Alibaba Cloud users to select and purchase services.
  • Lowers the threshold to deploy services. After Alibaba Cloud users subscribe to services, Compute Nest automates service deployment.
  • Allows customers to manage the services that are provided by different service providers in a centralized manner.

The following flowchart shows the delivery process of the Compute Nest service.

Security and reliability

Compute Nest is a secure and reliable platform that provides the following benefits:

  • Simplifies the network connection between service providers and customers. Service providers and customers can modify network configurations and exchange logon credentials in a secure manner. Compute Nest authorizes service providers and customers to manage services based on a secure authorization and automatic authentication mechanism. This way, Compute Nest establishes a secure O&M channel between the service providers and the customers.
  • Traces and audits service data. Compute Nest uses ActionTrail to record the logs that are generated from the operations on the resources deployed in the Compute Nest console. Compute Nest also generates screen recordings from the operations on the service instance. This way, Compute Nest traces the whole O&M process to prevent disputes.

The following flowchart shows the O&M process of Compute Nest service.

Advantages

Compared with traditional solutions, Compute Nest provides the following advantages for service providers.

Item Compute Nest Traditional solution
Service delivery Standardizes delivery and automates deployment for services in an efficient and reliable manner. Requires manual operations to deliver and deploy services. This decreases the delivery efficiency and may induce quality risks that are caused by improper operations.
Automates service delivery to reduce delivery costs. Requires manual operations to deliver services. This induces quality risks, and increases delivery time and costs.
Service O&M Reports faults in real time to prevent risks. Before service providers receive feedback from customers, the service providers can respond to faults at the earliest opportunity. Requires customers to report faults. Service providers cannot respond to faults at the earliest opportunity.
Authorizes service providers and customers to manage services after the services are subscribed. Compute Nest also automates authorization and authentication. When service providers implement O&M for the services, the service providers do not need to exchange logon credentials. Requires service providers and customers to store and exchange logon credentials in plaintext. The credentials may be leaked due to incidents or improper management. This induces security risks for service providers and customers.
Simplifies network connection to prevent network issues between service providers and customers during O&M. Requires service providers and customers to modify security and network configurations, and enable or disable the O&M channel. This requires complex operations. Improper operations may affect network and service security.
Performs health check for resources in a few steps and provides simple O&M portals to troubleshoot faults for applications. This improves O&M efficiency and greatly shortens the service downtime. Takes a long period of time for service providers to detect faults based on the feedback from customers. If service providers are not familiar with the resource and application platforms, cross-platform troubleshooting cannot be performed in time. As a result, the services are interrupted for a long period of time.
Audits and traces the service process to ensure service reliability for enterprises. Does not trace and record the operations performed on services. When errors occur in the services, service providers and customers cannot determine the causes of the errors.
Reduces O&M costs. Involves complex O&M and requires high O&M costs.
Service management Allows service providers to manage services for customers at each touchpoint, including service delivery, to ensure customer experience. If services are used by multiple customers, service provides can manage the services in the Compute Nest console in a centralized manner. This improves operational efficiency. Relies on the feedback from customers. Service providers respond to the requirements of customers by gathering feedback. As a result, service providers cannot ensure customer experience in real time.
