Create an assessment solution

1. Log on to the Cloud Migration Hub console. the In the left-side navigation pane, choose Assessment Capability > Assessment Solution. On the page that appears, click Create Assessment Solution.

   

2. In the Create Assessment Solution panel, configure the parameters.

   • Cloud Vendor: Only AWS is supported.

     Research methods - AK/SK: You can assign an account that has read-only permissions on AWS resources to Cloud Migration Hub. Then, Cloud Migration Hub can automatically analyze bills and map AWS resources to Alibaba Cloud services. This way, you can obtain the costs of using Alibaba Cloud services and a cost comparison between using Alibaba Cloud services and using AWS resources.

     If you select AK/SK for the Research methods parameter, configure the required parameters and click OK.

     

     Note

     Before you select AK/SK, make sure that AWS Cost Explorer is activated and the account that you want to assign to Cloud Migration Hub has read permissions on AWS resources. Examples:

     arn:aws:iam::aws:policy/AWSBillingReadOnlyAccess
     arn:aws:iam::aws:policy/Billing
     arn:aws:iam::aws:rds/DescribeDbInstances
     arn:aws:iam::aws:policy/ReadOnlyAccess

     Cloud Migration Hub needs to call the GetCostAndUsage operation of AWS SDKs to access your AWS bills. You are charged for the calls. Cloud Migration Hub also needs to access the configuration information of your Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) resources to recommend suitable specifications of Alibaba Cloud ApsaraDB RDS instances. Make sure that the assigned account has read-only permissions on Amazon RDS.

     For more information about the resource types supported by online AWS resource surveys and API references, see Fields collected from AWS. If you want to minimize the scope of permissions, you can create a custom policy based on the ReadOnlyAccess policy of AWS.

     Cloud Migration Hub does not record or store your sensitive information such as AccessKey pairs. The key information that you enter is used only for the current task.

   • Research methods - Task Research: You can select total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis and resource survey tasks that are complete to create an assessment solution.

     If you select Task Research for the Research methods parameter, select one TCO analysis task and one or more resource research tasks. Then, click OK.

   

   After you click OK, you can view the solution in the solution list on the Assessment Solution page. The solution is in the In data acquisition state. After the solution is generated, you can perform subsequent detailed analysis.

   

Download an assessment solution

Find your assessment solution and click Generate in the Actions column. Wait until the solution is generated.

After the solution is generated, click Download.

After the solution is downloaded, open the downloaded file. In the message that appears, select Yes.

In the Update Table of Contents dialog box, select Update entire table.

You can receive an assessment solution that is generated based on your AWS resources, including migration cost analysis, source resource analysis, and migration plan details.
