Bastionhost provides the notification feature. The feature allows you to configure parameters to notify a Bastionhost administrator or an O&M engineer by text message, email, and internal message. This way, the Bastionhost administrator or the O&M engineer can obtain information about your business status at the earliest opportunity. This topic describes how to use the notification feature.
Log on to the Bastionhost console. In the top navigation bar, select the region in which your bastion host resides.
In the bastion host list, find the bastion host that you want to manage and click Manage.
In the left-side navigation pane, click System Settings.
On the Use the notification feature tab, configure notification methods.
NoteBy default, all notification methods are disabled. You can select Text Message, Email, or Internal Message based on your business requirements.

Command Alert Notification
When an O&M operation triggers a command control policy, Bastionhost sends notifications. Each policy specifies an action on commands, such as approving or blocking commands.
Storage Capacity Notification
When storage is about to reach the upper limit, Bastionhost sends notifications. For example, Bastionhost notifies you when 85% of storage is used.
NoteIf the available storage remains unchanged or keeps decreasing, Bastionhost no longer sends notifications.
Notifications of Automatic Tasks
After an automatic password change task is complete, Bastionhost sends a notification.
NoteAfter an automatic password change task is created, Bastionhost automatically runs the task based on the specified time or cycle. The automatic password change feature helps meet the requirements of classified protection and prevents errors that are caused by regular and manual password rotation. For more information about how to create an automatic password change task, see Use the automatic password change feature.
O&M Report Notification
From 10:00 to 11:00 each Monday, Bastionhost sends the O&M reports of the last week.
Shared Key Change Notification
If a period is specified for this parameter, Bastionhost sends an notification to change a shared key when the shared key is about to expire. Only a Bastionhost administrator can specify the period.
NoteAn expired shared key does not affect your service. You can determine whether to configure a new shared key based on your business requirements.
After you create a shared key and associate the key with multiple host accounts, the shared key is preferentially used to log on to hosts for O&M. This makes host account management more efficient. For more information about how to create a shared key, see Use the shared key feature.
Alert Notification of Network Domain Proxy
When the proxy server of a network domain fails to run, Bastionhost sends a notification.
NoteAfter you create a network domain and connect the network domain to a proxy server in the Bastionhost console, Bastionhost checks the connectivity of the proxy server every 5 minutes. For more information, see Use the network domain feature.
O&M Approval Notification
When an O&M application is submitted, Bastionhost notifies the recipients that you specify on the System Settings page. After the O&M application is reviewed, Bastionhost sends the review result to the applicant.
Notification for End of User Validity Period
Specifies the number of days before the system notifies Bastionhost users of the end of the user validity periods. Valid values: 1 to 7. Default value: 1.
The system does not notify RAM users. The system notifies Bastionhost users only by text message and email. The recipients that you specify in the Text Message or Email Recipients section do not take effect on this parameter.
Notification for User Password Expiration
Specifies the number of days before the system notifies Bastionhost users of the expiration of the user passwords. Valid values: 1 to 4. Default value: 1.
The system notifies only local users. The recipients that you specify in the Text Message or Email Recipients section do not take effect on this parameter.
Click Save.
You can click the
icon in the upper-right corner to go to Message Center. If you select Text Message and Email, Bastionhost notifies the recipients that you specify in the Text Message or Email Recipients section by text message and email. NoteYou can add up to 10 recipients in the Text Message or Email Recipients section.
