Tags can be used to identify resources with the same characteristics (such as snapshots that belong to the same organization or that serve the same purpose) for easy search and management. This topic describes how to edit the tags of an existing snapshot.

Background information

For information about how to use tags, the resources that support tags, and the limits on tags, see Overview and the "Tag limits" section of the Limits topic.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the ECS console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Storage & Snapshots > Snapshots.
  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.
  4. Click the Disk Snapshots tab, find the snapshot whose tags you want to edit, and then use one of the following methods to edit the snapshot tags:
    • If no tags are added to the snapshot, move the pointer over the Tag icon in the Tag column corresponding to the snapshot, and then click Edit to add tags to the snapshot.
    • If tags are added to the snapshot, move the pointer over the Tag icon in the Tag column corresponding to the snapshot, and then click Edit to edit existing tags.
  5. In the Configure Tags dialog box, select existing tags or specify new tags. Then, click OK.

What to do next

After tags are added to your snapshots, you can filter the snapshots by tag to perform different operations. For example, you can copy snapshots that have a set of tags to a different region and calculate the costs for snapshots that have a different set of tags.
