This topic describes how to use the data asset management feature of Data Management (DMS) to manage metadata, data lineage, and data quality in a centralized manner for AnalyticDB for MySQL clusters.

Background information

AnalyticDB for MySQL stores large amounts of core data that is valuable for both internal and external use. In addition to figures, the data also contains information that can reveal enterprise operations, including their business logic and definitions. All of this data is considered enterprise data assets. Data assets are the projection of enterprises in the digital world and are crucial to enterprise operations or digital transformation. Therefore, comprehensive management of data assets is essential. The data asset management feature of DMS can make data assets visible, available, and secure. This helps enterprises mine data value, generate more data assets, and form a positive cycle during enterprise operations.

Precautions

The end-to-end data management feature is not supported for the AnalyticDB for MySQL clusters located in the Indonesia (Jakarta) region.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the AnalyticDB for MySQL console.
  2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Clusters.
  4. On the Data Warehouse Edition (V3.0) tab, find the cluster that you want to manage and click the Cluster ID.
  5. In the left-side navigation pane, choose End-to-end Data Management > Data Assets.
    Note
    • The first time you log on to an AnalyticDB for MySQL database from the DMS console and use the data asset management feature, you must first configure the database logon information. For more information, see Log on to a database.
    • Assume that you have logged on to an AnalyticDB for MySQL database whose control mode is set to Flexible Management or Stable Change but did not select Remember password. When you log on to the database again, you must enter the password of the database account before you can perform subsequent operations. For more information, see Control modes.
  6. Click the Data Assets tab and perform the following operations:
    • View table metadata
On the Global Search tab, enter a keyword in the search box, select Table, and then click More corresponding to the table that you want to manage to go to the Details page.
Note You can view the search results from the table dimension only when the control mode of the cluster is set to Secure Collaboration. For more information, see Control modes.

On the Tables page, you can view the detailed information about a table, such as the character set used by the table, the database to which the table belongs, and permissions granted to the current account on the table. You can also view the data lineage and quality of the table.

    • Asset dashboards

In the left-side navigation pane, click Asset Dashboard to view the statistics about all data assets within your account, such as Instance Distributions, Database Distributions, and Table Distributions.

    • Category

In the left-side navigation pane, click Category to manage data assets by category. You can create subcategories under the category that you want to manage, and add instances, databases, and tables to each category. For example, you can add the order and finish_order subcategories to the Orders category.

    • Instances

In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances to manage all the clusters or databases within your account.

For example, you can select multiple instances and batch modify, disable, or delete them.
