You can manually restart an instance when the number of connections exceeds the threshold or any performance issue occurs for the instance. However, when an instance is restarted, it automatically performs a minor upgrade. The updated version may have incompatibility issues, and can render your services unavailable. Therefore, before you restart an instance, we recommend that you first purchase a new instance to test its compatibility. You can restart the old instance only after testing the compatibility of the instance. Furthermore, restarting an instance may interrupt connections. Proceed with caution and make appropriate service arrangements before restarting an instance.
Log on to the
RDS consoleand select the target instance.
Select the region where the target instance is located.
Click the ID of the target instance to enter the Basic Information page.
Click Restart Instance in the upper right corner on the instance management page. In the displayed dialog box, click OK, as shown in the following figure.
