This topic describes how to modify the configurations of an Application Load Balancer (ALB) instance.

Change the zones where an ALB instance is deployed

You can change the zones where an ALB instance is deployed. After you enable a zone for an ALB instance, ALB forwards requests to the backend servers that are deployed in the zone. After you disable a zone for an ALB instance, ALB stops forwarding requests to the backend servers that are deployed in the zone.

Note After you change the zones, the associated elastic IP addresses (EIPs) may be changed. Therefore, you may be charged an additional fee. For more information, see EIP billing.
  1. Log on to the ALB console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the ALB instance is deployed.
  3. On the Instances page, find the ALB instance that you want to manage, and choose What to do next > Modify Zone/Subnet in the Actions column.
  4. In the Modify Zone/Subnet dialog box, select zones, select vSwitches, and then click OK.

Upgrade a basic ALB instance

You can upgrade a basic ALB instance to a standard ALB instance. However, you cannot downgrade a standard ALB instance to a basic ALB instance. For more information about the differences between basic and standard ALB instances, see Features and limits of different editions.

After a basic ALB instance is upgraded to a standard ALB instance, the billing rules for standard ALB instances are applied. For more information, see ALB Pricing.

  1. Log on to the ALB console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the ALB instance is deployed.
  3. On the Instances page, find the ALB instance that you want to manage, and choose What to do next > Upgrade Edition in the Actions column.
  4. In the Edition section, select Standard and click Buy Now.

Modify the billing configurations for Internet-facing ALB instances

You can modify the billing method and Internet bandwidth limit of Internet-facing ALB instances. You are charged based on the new billing method and Internet bandwidth limit that you specify. For more information, see EIP billing.

  1. Log on to the ALB console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the ALB instance is deployed.
  3. On the Instances page, find the ALB instance that you want to manage, and choose What to do next > Change Configurations in the Actions column.
  4. On the Change Configurations page, modify the billing configurations and click Buy Now.
