For security reasons, convenience users can be locked or unlocked. Locked convenience users are unable to log on to cloud desktops. This topic describes how to lock or unlock a convenience user.

Lock a user

If a convenience user enters an invalid password 10 times in a row, the system locks the user. You can also manually lock the user in the Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) console. Perform the following steps.
Note Convenience users locked by the system are automatically unlocked after 20 minutes. Users that were manually locked must be manually unlocked.
  1. Log on to the EDS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select a region.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Users.
  4. On the Users page, use one of the following methods to lock users:
    • Find the user that you want to lock and click Lock in the Actions column.
    • Select one or more users that you want to lock and click Lock in the lower part of the page.
  5. In the message that appears, click OKLock.
    After you lock a user, the status of the user changes to Lock. The user is unable to log on to an EDS client to connect to a cloud desktop.

Unlock a user

Locked convenience users are unable to log on to cloud desktops. You can unlock locked users in the EDS console. Perform the following steps:

  1. Log on to the EDS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select a region.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Users.
  4. On the Users page, use one of the following methods to unlock users:
    • Find the user that you want to unlock and click Unlock in the Actions column.
    • Select one or more users that you want to unlock and click Unlock in the lower part of the page.
  5. In the message that appears, click OKUnlock.
    After you unlock a user, the status of the user changes to Normal.
