If subscription ApsaraDB for HBase instances are locked because they have expired or pay-as-you-go instances are locked because your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, you can renew the instances to unlock them within a specific period of time, delete the instances, or recreate the instances.

If a subscription ApsaraDB for HBase instance expires or a pay-as-you-go instance is locked because your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, the instance can be handled based on the time elapsed since the instance is locked and the billing method. The following table describes how locked instances can be handled based on the billing methods.
Billing method Impact on instances How to restore
Subscription In the first seven days after an instance expires, the instance is locked and cannot be accessed. Renew the instance. After the instance is renewed, it is immediately unlocked. For more information, see Manually renew an instance.
On the eighth day after an instance expires, the computing resources of the instance are released. However, the data backups of the instance are retained until the fifteenth day after the instance expires. The instance is in the Released state. The data of the instances that are in the recycle bin is retained for seven days and then automatically deleted. For more information about the recycle bin, see Manage instances in the recycle bin. You cannot directly restore the instances from the recycle bin. To restore the data of the instances, submit a ticket to apply for temporary restoration and then migrate the data within a specific period of time.
On the sixteenth day after an instance expires, the data backups of the instance are deleted.
Warning To retain the data in the instance, you must renew the instance before it is deleted. Otherwise, the data cannot be restored.
You cannot restore the instance.
Pay-as-you-go
  • If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, all the pay-as-you-go instances that belong to the account become overdue.
  • However, if the amount of your overdue payment does not exceed the overdraft threshold of your Alibaba Cloud account, the instances are not locked. During the grace period, you receive a text message reminder once a day.
Note Alibaba Cloud provides service suspension protection for pay-as-you-go resources. If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, you can continue to use the pay-as-you-go resources within the grace period or until the amount of your outstanding payment exceeds the overdraft threshold. You are still charged for using the resources within the grace period. The overdraft threshold of your Alibaba Cloud account is not equal to the amount threshold of your overdue payment. The grace period and the overdraft threshold of each Alibaba Cloud account vary based on multiple factors, such as the account level and the previous credit of the account. The system automatically calculates and updates the grace period and overdraft threshold on a monthly basis.
  • If the overdraft threshold is exceeded, Alibaba Cloud locks your instances and stops billing.
Before your data is released, check the payment method of your Alibaba Cloud account and make sure that you have sufficient credit to cover the payment.https://usercenter2.aliyun.com/finance/fund-management/recharge
If you have an overdue payment for more than seven days, you are deemed to voluntarily discard your pay-as-you-go instances. Then, Alibaba Cloud releases the instances and deletes the data in the instances. The released instances cannot be restored. You cannot restore the instances.
