You can disable your domain names for Content Delivery Network (CDN). In some scenarios, your domain names for CDN can be disabled by the system due to service violation, overdue payment, or invalid Internet Content Provider (ICP) filing. This topic describes the resolution rules for disabled domain names for CDN and how to enable the domain names again.

Service violation

Problem description: Your domain name for CDN is blocked because it does not comply with the limits that Alibaba Cloud imposes on domain names. In this case, your domain name for CDN is disabled. In addition, the system sends notifications to you by using text messages or emails.

Resolution rule for a disabled domain name for CDN: The system deletes the canonical name (CNAME) that is assigned to the domain name and stops resolving the domain name. In this case, the domain name is inaccessible. In addition, the domain name is added to the blacklist. You cannot add it again in the ApsaraVideo VOD console.

Solution: Make sure that your accelerated domain name meets the requirements described in Limits. If the problem persists, submit a request on Yida.

Overdue payments

Problem description: If the available credit in your Alibaba Cloud account is less than the amount due on the bill, the bill becomes overdue. The available credit includes the account balance, vouchers, and coupons within your account. If your payment becomes overdue, the system sends text messages or emails to notify you of the overdue payment.

Handling rules for disabled domain names:
  • In normal cases, an accelerated domain name is resolved to the IP address that belongs to a point of presence (POP) by using a CNAME.
  • When you receive text messages or emails that notify you of overdue payments, ApsaraVideo VOD disables the accelerated domain name. The status of the domain name is changed to OFFLINE. Within the next 720 hours after the domain name is disabled, the accelerated domain name is mapped to its CNAME. The CNAME is resolved to the origin IP address. In this case, the number of requests that are redirected to the origin server is increased.
  • After the domain name is disabled for 720 hours, Alibaba Cloud CDN stops resolving the domain name to the origin IP address. The domain name is resolved to an invalid address such as offline.***.com by using the CNAME. In this case, the domain name is inaccessible.

Solution: Settle overdue payments. Then, the accelerated domain name is automatically enabled.

Invalid ICP filing

Problem description: When the ICP number of your domain name becomes invalid, the system sends text messages or emails to notify you.
Note
  • The ICP number of a domain name becomes invalid if the information about the ICP filing entity changes. The information includes but is not limited to the ICP number owner, contact information, service provider, website, and website services. If a change is made to the information, the ICP number becomes invalid.
  • If the acceleration region includes regions in the Chinese mainland, you must apply for an ICP number for the accelerated domain name.
Handling rules for disabled domain names:
  • In normal cases, an accelerated domain name is resolved to the IP address that belongs to a POP by using a CNAME.
  • When the ICP filing of an accelerated domain name becomes invalid, ApsaraVideo VOD disables the domain name. The status of the domain name is changed to OFFLINE. Within the next 168 hours after the domain name is disabled, the accelerated domain name is mapped to its CNAME.

Solution: Apply for an ICP number for the accelerated domain name. Then, submit a request on Yida to enable the accelerated domain name.

Intentional operation

Problem description: You can disable a domain name for CDN that is no longer needed.

Resolution rule for a disabled domain name for CDN:
  • In normal cases: A domain name for CDN is resolved to the IP address that belongs to a CDN node of ApsaraVideo VOD by using a CNAME.
  • Intentional operation: When you disable a domain name for CDN, the CDN service for the domain name is stopped. The domain name is resolved to an invalid IP address by using the CNAME.

Solution: To enable the disabled domain name for CDN again, perform the following steps: Log on to the ApsaraVideo VOD console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose CDN Configuration > Domain Names. On the Domain Names page, select the domain name that is disabled and click Activate.
