To make sure that your Express Connect service works as expected, you must renew the subscription of your Express Connect instances before they expire. We recommend that you enable auto-renewal to prevent service suspensions caused by overdue payments.

Background information

You can manually renew Express Connect instances, enable auto-renewal, and choose not to renew Express Connect instances that are near expiration. The following example shows how to manage renewal in different scenarios:

  • You can manually renew instances or enable auto-renewal before the instances expire.
  • Expired instances cannot be automatically renewed. If an instance is expired, you must manually renew it. Then, you can enable auto-renewal for the instance.
  • If you no longer need an instance, you can disable auto-renewal and choose not to renew the instance after the instance expires.

Renew an Express Connect circuit

On the Renewal page, you can manage the renewal of your instances as needed.

  1. Log on to the Express Connect console.
  2. You can use one of the following methods to navigate to the Renewal page:
    • Navigate to the Renewal page from the Exclusive Physical Connection page.
      1. In the top navigation bar, select the region and click Exclusive Physical Connection in the left-side navigation pane.
      2. On the Exclusive Physical Connection page, find the Express Connect circuit that you want to manage and click Auto Renew in the Actions column.
      3. Click the Manual, Auto, or Nonrenewal tab to manage renewal.
    • Navigate to the Renewal page in Billing Management.
      1. In the top navigation bar, choose Expenses > Renewal Management.
      2. In the Instances section, select Express Connect-Charge for rental.
      3. Click the Manual, Auto, or Nonrenewal tab to manage renewal.
  3. You can use one of the following methods to manage the renewal of an Express Connect circuit.
    • Manual renewal
      Note To renew multiple Express Connect circuits at a time, select the Express Connect circuits that you want to renew and click Batch Renew. Then, perform the operations as prompted.
      1. In the Actions column of the Express Connect circuit that you want to manage, click Renew.
      2. On the Renew page, specify a duration and select Terms of Service.
      3. Click Buy Now and complete the payment.
    • Auto-renewal: After you enable auto-renewal for an Express Connect circuit, Alibaba Cloud deducts fees from your account balance to pay for the order nine days before the subscription expires. To prevent auto-renewal failures, make sure that your account balance is sufficient.
      1. In the Actions column, click Enable Auto Renewal.
      2. In the Enable Auto Renewal dialog box, specify the renewal period, and click Auto Renew.

        After you enable auto-renewal for an Express Connect circuit, you can view the order on the Auto tab.

    • Disable renewal: After you disable auto-renewal for an Express Connect circuit, Alibaba Cloud sends a notification before the Express Connect circuit expires. The Express Connect circuit is suspended after it expires. You can change the auto-renewal setting before the Express Connect circuit is suspended.
      1. In the Actions column, click Nonrenewal.
      2. In the Set as Nonrenewal dialog box, click OK.

        After you disable auto-renewal for an Express Connect circuit, you can view the record on the Nonrenewal tab.

Renew a VBR

On the Renewal page, you can manage the renewal of a virtual border router (VBR) as needed.

  1. Log on to the Express Connect console.
  2. You can use one of the following methods to navigate to the Renewal page:
    • Navigate to the Renewal page from the Virtual Border Routers (VBRs) page.
      1. In the top navigation bar, select the region and click Exclusive Physical Connection in the left-side navigation pane.
      2. On the Virtual Border Routers (VBRs) page, find the VBR that you want to manage and choose More > Auto Renew in the Actions column.
      3. Click the Manual, Auto, or Nonrenewal tab to manage the renewal.
    • Navigate to the Renewal page in Billing Management.
      1. In the top navigation bar, choose Expenses > Renewal Management.
      2. In the Instances section, select Express Connect-VBR Instance fee.
      3. Click the Manual, Auto, or Nonrenewal tab to manage renewal.
  3. You can use one of the following methods to manage the renewal of a VBR.
    • Manual renewal
      Note To renew multiple Express Connect circuits at a time, select the Express Connect circuits that you want to renew and click Batch Renew. Then, perform the operations as prompted.

Extend a non-renewing instance

After you disable auto-renewal for an instance, you can still renew the instance before it expires.

  1. On the Renewal page, click the Nonrenewal tab.
  2. In the Actions column of the instance that you want to manage, click Renew.
    Note You can also click Enable Auto Renewal or Enable Manual Renewal. Then, perform the operations as prompted.
  3. On the Renew page, specify the renewal period and select Terms of Service.
  4. Click Buy Now and complete the payment.
