Enterprise Distributed Application Service:Overview

This topic shows you how to obtain an overview of an application. On the Overview tab of the application, you can view the application topology, number of requests, response time, number of slow calls, and HTTP status codes.

Background information

EDAS provides application topologies in Professional Edition and Platinum Edition, but not in Standard Edition.

Go to the instance overview tab

  1. Log on to the EDAS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Application Management > Applications. In the top navigation bar, select a region. In the upper part of the page, select a microservice namespace. From the Cluster Type drop-down list, select Kubernetes Cluster. Then, find the application that you want to manage and click the name in the Application Name column.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane of the application details page, choose Monitor > Instance Details.

  4. In the left-side pane of the Instance Details page, select the instance that you want to view and click the Overview tab on the right side of the page.

Application topology

The application topology section displays the topology of call relationships between internal services of the application in the specified time period.

In the application topology section, perform the following operations as required:
  • Click the plus icon or scroll the mouse wheel up to zoom in the topology.
  • Click the minus icon or scroll the mouse wheel down to zoom out the topology.
  • Click the Refresh icon to restore the application topology to the default size.

Number of requests

In the Requests section, a time series curve indicates the number of requests of the application in the specified time period.
Optional:In the Requests section, perform the following operations as needed:
  • Move the pointer over a chart and view the detailed statistics.
  • Use the cursor to select a time period to view the statistics of the specified time period.
  • Click the chart icon to view the statistics of the metric in a certain time period or compare the statistics of the metric in the same time period on different dates.

Response time

In the Response Time section, a time series curve indicates the response time (RT) of the application in the specified time period.
Optional:In the Response Time section, perform the following operations as needed:
  • Move the pointer over a chart and view the detailed statistics.
  • Use the cursor to select a time period to view the statistics of the specified time period.
  • Click a spike in the curve to perform in-depth analysis.
  • Click the chart icon to view the statistics of the metric in a certain time period or compare the statistics of the metric in the same time period on different dates.

Number of errors

In the Errors section, a time series curve indicates the number of errors of the application in the specified time period.
Optional:In the Errors section, perform the following operations as needed:
  • Move the pointer over a chart and view the detailed statistics.
  • Use the cursor to select a time period to view the statistics of the specified time period.
  • Click a spike in the curve to perform in-depth analysis.
  • Click the chart icon to view the statistics of the metric in a certain time period or compare the statistics of the metric in the same time period on different dates.

HTTP status codes

In the HTTP - Status Code section, a time series curve shows statistics on the HTTP status codes of the application in the specified time period.
Optional:In the HTTP - Status Code section, perform the following operations as needed:
  • Move the pointer over a chart and view the detailed statistics.
  • Use the cursor to select a time period to view the statistics of the specified time period.
  • Click the legend to hide or show the data.
  • Click the chart icon to view the statistics of the metric in a certain time period or compare the statistics of the metric in the same time period on different dates.
