Modify user information and delete a user

This topic describes how to use the Elastic High Performance Computing (E-HPC) console to modify user permissions, reset a user password, and delete a user.

Modify user permissions

  1. Log on to the E-HPC console.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resource Management>User.

  4. On the User page, select a cluster from the Cluster drop-down list.

  5. On the Cluster User Management tab, find the user whose permissions you want to modify. Click Modify Authority in the Actions column.

  6. In the Modify User Authority dialog box, select a user group from the User Group drop-down list. Click OK.

Reset a user password

If you forget or leak your password, you can reset it. Password retrieval is not supported.

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resource Management>User.

  2. On the User page, select a cluster from the Cluster drop-down list.

  3. On the Cluster User Management tab, find the user whose password you want to reset. Click Reset Password in the Actions column.

  4. In the dialog box that appears, set a valid new password as prompted. Click OK.

Delete a user

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resource Management>User.

  2. On the User page, select a cluster from the Cluster drop-down list.

  3. On the Cluster User Management tab, find the user that you want to delete. Click Delete in the Actions column.

    Notice

    After a user is deleted, the user data stored in the /home directory is retained for other users to access. However, the user cannot be recovered. Even if another user that has the same name is created, the retained data cannot be reused.

  4. In the Delete User message, click OK.
