Simple Log Service:Why am I charged for active shards?

Last Updated:Aug 25, 2023

If the number of your active shards exceeds the free quota, rental fees are incurred.

Rental fees

Simple Log Service allows you to read data from and write data to active shards. You are charged for active shards based on the number of used active shards and rental periods. For more information about the prices of active shards, see Simple Log Service pricing.

By default, two shards are created when you create a Logstore. For more information, see Manage a Logstore.

Cost saving

Each shard supports data writing of 5 MB/s and data reading of 10 MB/s. If the total data traffic of used shards is less than the maximum read and write capabilities of a shard, we recommend that you merge shards. The merged shard is inactive and no rental fees are incurred. For more information, see Merge shards.
