Elastic Compute Service:Manage an image template

This topic describes how to view the details of an image template, how to execute an image building task based on an image template, and how to clone an image template.

View the details of an image template

  1. Log on to the ECS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Deployment & Elasticity > Image Builder.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region. Region

  4. On the Image Templates of the Image Builder Management page, find the image template whose details you want to view and click the image template ID in the Template ID/Template Name column.

    On the Template Details page, you can perform the following operations:

    • In the Basic Information section, view the basic information of the image template.

    • On the Building History tab, view historical image building tasks or execute image building tasks.

    • On the View Template tab, view the content of the image template.

Execute an image building task

You can execute only one image building task based on a single image template at a time. You can cancel multiple image building tasks at a time. If you cancel specific image building tasks, other image building tasks are not affected.

  1. Log on to the ECS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Deployment & Elasticity > Image Builder.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region. Region

  4. On the Image Templates tab of the Image Build Management page, find the image template that you want to manage and click Execute in the Actions column.

    Note

    You can cancel ongoing image building tasks. To cancel an ongoing image building task that is based on an image template, click the image template ID, find the image building task on the Building History tab, and then click Cancel in the Actions column.

    • After the image building task is completed, Success is displayed in the Status column and the ID of the image that is built based on the image template is displayed in the Image ID column. You can click the image ID to view the details of the image in the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) console.

    • If Failed is displayed in the Status column corresponding to the image building task, you can view the detailed error information in the Execution Result column to identify and troubleshoot the issue.

Clone an image template

  1. Log on to the ECS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Deployment & Elasticity > Image Builder.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region. Region

  4. On the Image Templates tab of the Image Builder Management page, find the image template that you want to clone and click Clone in the Actions column.

  5. On the Clone Image Template page, modify the parameters of the image template based on your business requirements and click Create.

    After the image template is cloned, a new image template is generated on the Image Builder Management page.
