After you create a cloud desktop, you can manage the cloud desktop in the EDS console, including starting, restarting, or stopping it.

Background information

A cloud desktop cannot be connected to or used while it is stopped. The computing resources (vCPUs and memory) of stopped pay-as-you-go cloud desktops are reclaimed. Billing for the computing resources stops, but storage and bandwidth resources continue to incur charges.

Restart cloud desktops

You can restart one or more cloud desktops that are in the Running state.

  1. Log on to the EDS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select a region.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Cloud Desktops.
  4. On the Cloud Desktops page, use one of the following methods to restart cloud desktops:
    • Click Restart in the Actions column corresponding to the cloud desktop that you want to restart.
    • Select one or more cloud desktops that you want to restart and click Restart in the lower part of the page.

Start cloud desktops

You can start one or more cloud desktops that are in the Stopped state.

  1. Log on to the EDS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select a region.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Cloud Desktops.
  4. On the Cloud Desktops page, use one of the following methods to start cloud desktops:
    • Click Start in the Actions column corresponding to the cloud desktop that you want to start.
    • Select one or more cloud desktops that you want to start and click Start in the lower part of the page.
  5. In the message that appears, click OK.

Stop cloud desktops

You can stop one or more cloud desktops that are in the Running state.

  1. Log on to the EDS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select a region.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Cloud Desktops.
  4. On the Cloud Desktops page, use one of the following methods to stop cloud desktops:
    • Click Stop in the Actions column corresponding to the cloud desktop that you want to stop.
    • Select one or more cloud desktops that you want to stop, and click Stop in the lower part of the page.
  5. In the dialog box that appears, select Confirm and click Confirm.
