Activate Wide Table SQL

Last Updated: Jul 22, 2021

Wide Table SQL enables ApsaraDB for Lindorm (Lindorm) to support SQL statements based on Phoenix. If you want to connect to a Lindorm cluster, use Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) or execute SQL statements in Python or Go. This topic describes how to activate Wide Table SQL.

Prerequisites

Notice

When you activate Wide Table SQL, the cluster restarts. This may cause service jitters. We recommend that you activate Wide Table SQL during off-peak hours.

Activate Wide Table SQL

  1. In the Lindorm console, find the Lindorm cluster that you want to manage and click View Instance Details in the Actions column. On the cluster details page, choose Wide Table Engine > Wide Table SQL in the left-side navigation pane.

  2. Click Activate Now to activate Wide Table SQL.

  3. Specify Phoenix Nodes and Phoenix Core Spec as needed and read and agree to Terms of Service.

  4. Click Buy Now.

  5. After you complete the purchase, the status of the Lindorm cluster changes to Scaling out Node on the Instance list page. Wait until the status of the Lindorm cluster changes to Running. This way, you can use the Lindorm cluster.

View the endpoint of the Lindorm cluster

You can view the endpoint of the Lindorm cluster after you activate Wide Table SQL. On the cluster details page in the Lindorm console, choose Wide Table Engine > Wide Table SQL. On the page that appears, you can view the internal endpoint of the Lindorm cluster. You can use this endpoint to connect to the Lindorm cluster over a virtual private cloud (VPC). If you want to connect to the Lindorm cluster over the Internet, click Open Public Endpoint. If you want to disable Internet access, click Release Public Endpoint.

Manage Phoenix nodes

Add a node

If you want to add a Phoenix node, perform the following steps:

  1. On the cluster details page in the Lindorm console, choose Wide Table Engine > Wide Table SQL. In the Phoenix Node Information section, choose Manage > Create Node. You are redirected to the Change Specification page.

  2. Specify Phoenix Nodes as needed and read and agree to Terms of Service. Then, click Buy Now.

  3. After you complete the purchase, the status of the Lindorm cluster changes to Scaling out Node on the Instance list page. Wait until the status of the Lindorm cluster changes to Running. This way, you can use the Lindorm cluster.

Upgrade specifications

If you want to upgrade the specifications of Phoenix core nodes, perform the following steps:

  1. On the cluster details page in the Lindorm console, choose Wide Table Engine > Wide Table SQL. In the Phoenix Node Information section, choose Manage > Upgrade Specifications. You are redirected to the Change Specification page.

  2. Specify Phoenix Core Spec as needed and read and agree to Terms of Service. Then, click Buy Now.

  3. After you complete the purchase, the status of the Lindorm cluster changes to Changing Specifications on the Instance list page. Wait until the status of the Lindorm cluster changes to Running. This way, you can use the Lindorm cluster.
