WUYING Workspace:Create custom cloud computer templates

Last Updated:Feb 07, 2024

A cloud computer template defines the configurations of cloud computer resources that are required to create a cloud computer. The template allows you to quickly create cloud computers in WUYING Workspace. You can use a system cloud computer template or create a custom cloud computer template. You can save the common cloud computer configurations as a custom cloud computer template. Then, you can use the custom cloud computer template to create cloud computers that have identical configurations. This topic describes how to create, modify, and delete a custom cloud computer template.

Prerequisites

When you create a cloud computer template, you must select an image for the cloud computer template. You can select a system image, a custom image, or a shared image.

If you want to use a custom image, make sure that the image is available. For more information about specific operations, see Create an image.

If you select a shared image, you must copy or share the image. For more information about specific operations, see Copy an image or Share or unshare an image.

Background information

Cloud computer templates are classified into Alibaba Cloud system templates and custom templates. A cloud computer template contains the required configurations for a cloud computer, including an image and the required specifications such as the vCPU, memory, GPU memory, system disk, and data disk configurations.

Create a cloud computer template

To create a custom cloud computer template, perform the following steps:

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace (Pro Edition) console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Deployment > Cloud Computer Templates.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Templates page, click Create Cloud Computer Template.

  5. In the Create Cloud Computer Template panel, configure parameters for the cloud computer template based on your business requirements. The following table describes the parameters.

    Parameter

    Description

    Cloud Computer Template Name

The name of the cloud computer template. Make sure that the name meets the following requirements:

    Note

The name must be 2 to 128 characters in length, and can contain letters, digits, colons (:), underscores (_), and hyphens (-). The name must start with a letter but cannot start with http:// or https://.

    Description

The description of the template. Make sure that the description meets the following requirements:

    Note

The description must be 2 to 256 characters in length and can contain letters, digits, punctuation marks, and spaces. The description cannot start with http:// or https://.

    Specifications

You must specify the cloud computer type and the specifications of vCPUs, GPUs, and memory. You can also select a specification that meets your business requirements in the Cloud Computer Type column.

    Disks

Specify the sizes of the system disk and the data disk.

    Important
    • By default, Enterprise Office and General Office cloud computers use ultra disks, and Enterprise Graphics and High Frequency cloud computers use enhanced SSDs (ESSDs). The performance level (PL) of an ESSD is the same as the PL that is defined in the cloud computer template. For information about the differences of ESSDs with different PLs, see ESSDs.

    • The size of the system disk ranges from 40 GiB to 500 GiB, and the size of the data disk ranges from 20 GiB to 2,040 GiB. The size of the data disk must be a multiple of 10. You can set the size of the data disk to 0 to specify that no data disk is attached.

    Images

    1. Select an image type in the Type section. Valid values: System Image, Custom Image, and Shared Image.

If you select System Image, you must select the image language from the OS Language section.

    2. Select an image based on your business requirements.

    Note

The initial environment of a cloud computer varies based on the image that is used by the cloud computer. Cloud computers support Windows and Linux images. For more information, see Image overview.

  6. Click Create.

You can go to the Custom Templates tab on the Templates page to check whether the cloud computer template is created.

Modify a cloud computer template

You can modify only custom cloud computer templates. After you modify a cloud computer template, the modifications are not synchronized to the cloud computers that are created by using the current cloud computer template. You can modify the cloud computer template by using one of the following methods:

  • Modify a cloud computer template on the Templates page

Procedure: On the Templates page, find the cloud computer template that you want to modify, click Edit Template in the Actions column, and then modify the cloud computer template as prompted.

  • Modify a cloud computer template on the Cloud Computer Pools page

You can use this method to modify a cloud computer template that is associated with a cloud computer pool. After the modification, the new cloud computer template applies to all cloud computers in the cloud computer pool.

    Procedure:

    1. On the Cloud Computer Pools page, find the cloud computer pool whose template you want to modify, click the cloud computer pool ID, and then click the Basic Information tab.

    2. On the Basic Information tab, find the Template Name Template ID parameter and click the pen icon.

    3. In the Modify Template panel, modify the current template based on your business requirements.

You can select a new cloud computer template from the template drop-down list or click Create Cloud Computer Template to create a cloud computer template that meets your business requirements. Click Refresh to view the created cloud computer template.

Delete a cloud computer template

If you no longer require a cloud computer template, you can delete the template. Before you delete a cloud computer template, take note of the following items:

  • You can delete only custom cloud computer templates.

  • You cannot delete a cloud computer template that is being used by cloud computer pools. In other scenarios, you can delete the cloud computer template.

  • You can delete a cloud computer template regardless of whether the cloud computer template is being used by cloud computers.

  • If the cloud computer template that you want to delete is being used by cloud computer pools, you must replace the cloud computer template with another cloud computer template for the cloud computer pools before you delete the cloud computer template.

  • After you delete a cloud computer template, the cloud computers or cloud computer pools that are created by using the cloud computer template can work as expected.

Procedure: On the Templates page, find the cloud computer template that you want to delete, click Delete in the Actions column, and then delete the cloud computer template as prompted.

What to do next

After you create a custom cloud computer template, you can use the cloud computer template to create a cloud computer. For more information about specific operations, see Create a cloud computer.
