This topic describes how to use icons, background colors, and highlighted measures as labels to mark a specific part of a chart.
Prerequisites
A dashboard is created. For more information, see Dashboard overview and Create a dashboard.
Limits
Only the following types of charts allow you to add labels:
- Trend charts: Line Chart, Area Chart, Stacked Area Chart, 100% Stacked Area Chart, and Combination Chart
- Comparison charts: Vertical Bar Chart, Stacked Vertical Bar Chart, 100% Stacked Vertical Bar Chart, Horizontal Bar Chart, Stacked Horizontal Bar Chart, and 100% Stacked Horizontal Bar Chart
- Relationship charts: Scatter Chart and Bubble Chart
- Space charts: Colored Map and Bubble Map
Example
Add a label
- Log on to the Quick BI console.
- In the top navigation bar, choose . On the Dashboards page, find the dashboard you want to manage and click the icon in the Actions column.
- On the dashboard editing page, perform the following steps to add a label to a chart:
- If you want to add Inflection Point Label, Measure Threshold, Quadrant Labeling, or Manual Labeling, click the Advanced tab in the Chart Design pane. For more information, see Add a label on the Advanced tab.
- If you want to add Manual Labeling, click the More icon in the chart or circle the area for which you want to add a label. For more information, see Add a label in a chart.
Add a label on the Advanced tab
- On the dashboard editing page, select a chart for which you want to add a label.
- Click the Advanced tab in the Chart Design pane.
- In the Label section, click Add Label and configure the following parameters.
Parameter Description Label Name The name of the label. Mode The type of the label. Valid values: Inflection Point Label, Measure Threshold, and Manual Labeling. - Inflection Point Label: For data of a specific series, the system automatically identifies points from which
the slope of the time trend may change based on the definition of inflection points.
Inflection point labels help you identify the trend slope and take actions in a timely
manner.
Note This parameter can be configured only when a time field is selected as a dimension.
- Measure Threshold: A measure threshold is similar to an auxiliary line. You can set Measure Threshold to a fixed or dynamic value. You can also set Highlight Range to Greater Than Threshold or Less Than Threshold.
- Quadrant Labeling: allows you to highlight a quadrant and configure the bubble color and icon for the
chart displayed in the highlighted quadrant. Note This parameter can be configured only when the Enable Four-quadrant feature is enabled in scatter charts and bubble charts.
- Manual Labeling: allows you to select an indicator and add a label to a specific part based on the indicator.
- Inflection Point Label: For data of a specific series, the system automatically identifies points from which
the slope of the time trend may change based on the definition of inflection points.
Inflection point labels help you identify the trend slope and take actions in a timely
manner.
- Click OK.
Add a label in a chart
You can manually add a label by using one of the following methods:
- Click the More icon in a chart to add a label
- On the dashboard editing page, click the icon in the upper-right corner of the chart for which you want to add a label and select Label.
- In the dialog box that appears, configure the color, icon, and comment for the chart and click OK.
- Circle valid areas to add a label
- On the dashboard editing page, circle the valid areas in the chart for which you want to add a label. In the dialog box that appears, select Annotate.
- Configure the color, icon, and comment for the chart and click Save.
Note The following types of charts allow you to circle areas to add a label:- Trend charts: Line Chart, Area Chart, Stacked Area Chart, 100% Stacked Area Chart, and Combination Chart
- Comparison charts: Vertical Bar Chart, Stacked Vertical Bar Chart, 100% Stacked Vertical Bar Chart, Horizontal Bar Chart, Stacked Horizontal Bar Chart, and 100% Stacked Horizontal Bar Chart
- Relationship charts: Scatter Chart and Bubble Chart
Edit a label
- On the dashboard editing page, click the chart whose labels you want to edit.
- Click the Advanced tab in the Chart Design pane.
- In the Label section, click the icon next to the label that you want to edit.
Hide a label
- On the dashboard editing page, click the chart whose labels you want to hide.
- Click the Advanced tab in the Chart Design pane.
- In the Label section, click the icon next to the label that you want to hide. Note Click the icon to show the label.
Delete a label
- On the dashboard editing page, click the chart whose labels you want to delete.
- Click the Advanced tab in the Chart Design pane.
- In the Label section, click the icon next to the label that you want to delete.
