Before data migration, Data Transmission Service (DTS) checks whether the objects to be migrated already exist in the target database. This topic describes how to find the same-named objects in the target database and rename these objects.

This check item fails if objects in the target database have identical names with the objects to be migrated. To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:

Configure object name mappings

You can configure name mappings to rename the objects with conflicting names for them to have different names in the target database. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Find the migration task and click Edit Task.Modify task configurations
  2. Click Set Whitelist and Next in the lower-right corner of the page.
  3. Rename objects migrated to the target database by using the object name mapping feature. For more information about how to use this feature, see Object name mapping.
  4. Click Precheck.

Rename objects in the target database

Log on to the target database, and rename or delete the objects that have identical names with the objects to be migrated.

Remove objects with conflicting names from the migration scope

Modify the task configurations to exclude the objects that have conflicting names from the migration scope.

  1. Find the migration task and click Edit Task.Modify task configurations
  2. Click Set Whitelist and Next in the lower-right corner of the page.
  3. Select the objects that have identical names with those in the target database and click the left arrow< to remove these objects from the Selected list.Remove objects to be migrated
  4. Click Precheck.
