Prerequisites

  1. An HBase TAR file provided by Alibaba Cloud is obtained. You can use one of the following methods to obtain a TAR file:
    • Method 1: Download a TAR file. This file includes all the enhanced dependencies that are required for connecting to an ApsaraDB for Lindorm (Lindorm) cluster. If you want to download an HBase TAR file in the Lindorm console, click Database Connection on the cluster details page and click Lindorm Shell Download on the Wide Table Engine tab.
    • Method 2: Download a TAR file from the Apache HBase official website. Decompress the downloaded TAR file. Then, copy the required JAR file provided by Alibaba Cloud to the lib directory of the TAR file. For information about the instructions, see Replace JAR files to upgrade your clients of earlier versions.

Configuration

Add the following configuration to the hbase-site.xml file in the conf/ directory after you decompress the TAR file:
<configuration>
      <!--
    Enter the endpoint of your Lindorm cluster. You can obtain the value on the Database Connection page in the Lindorm console. Use a public endpoint if you connect to the Lindorm cluster over the Internet. Use an internal endpoint if you connect to the Lindorm cluster over a VPC.
    -->
    <property>
        <name>hbase.zookeeper.quorum</name>
        <value>ld-xxxx-proxy-hbaseue.hbaseue.xxx.rds.aliyuncs.com:30020</value>
    </property>
    <!--
    Specify the username and the password. By default, the username and the password are root. You can change them as needed.
    -->
    <property>
        <name>hbase.client.username</name>
        <value>root</value>
    </property>
    <property>
        <name>hbase.client.password</name>
        <value>root</value>
    </property>
</configuration>

Use HBase Shell to connect to a Lindorm cluster

Go to the bin/ directory of the decompressed TAR file and enter ./hbase shell. Then, you can use the native HBase Shell to connect to a Lindorm cluster. By default, the log files are stored in the logs directory of the decompressed TAR file.

If you use HBase Shell to connect to a Lindorm cluster, you can use some simple data definition language (DDL) and data manipulation language (DML) statements to manage tables and data. The statements for managing clusters such as BALANCE and MOVE are disabled. For more information, see Limits.
