Release of the pg_pathman extension for enhancing the performance of partition tables PolarDB for PostgreSQL releases pg_pathman, a partitioning extension. Compared with the partitioning feature provided by PostgreSQL 11, pg_pathman offers the following benefits:
  • The pg_pathman extension delivers better performance. The performance is improved in a more significant way as the number of existing partitions increases.
  • The pg_pathman extension provides the feature of automatically creating partitions. If this feature is enabled and the newly inserted data does not belong to an existing partition, a partition is automatically created to store the newly inserted data.
