If you have overdue payments in your account, the status of your ECS instances in a scaling group will change. Make sure that you have sufficient balance in your account to ensure service availability.

If you have overdue payments in your account, pay-as-you-go and preemptible instances will be stopped. For information about the time when instances are stopped, see Settlement period.

If you have overdue payments in your account, Auto Scaling cannot automatically create ECS instances and will remove or even release stopped instances from a scaling group. The following section describes the situations:
  • Stopped ECS instances in a scaling group are considered to be unhealthy.
  • If ECS instances are automatically created by Auto Scaling, or are manually added to a scaling group and their lifecycle is managed by Auto Scaling, Auto Scaling removes and releases these unhealthy instances.
  • If ECS instances are manually added to a scaling group and their lifecycle is not managed by Auto Scaling, Auto Scaling removes these unhealthy instances from the scaling group but does not release them. For information about status changes of ECS instances that are removed from a scaling group, see Resource status when an ECS instance is out of service.
