Smart Access Gateway:Configuration changes

Last Updated:Aug 07, 2023

You can upgrade, temporarily upgrade, and temporarily downgrade your Smart Access Gateway (SAG) instance based on your business requirements.

Upgrades

Upgrade an SAG customer premises equipment (CPE) or vCPE instance

Before you perform an upgrade, take note of the following items:

Limit

Effective time

Impacts on billing

Scenario

  • When you modify the maximum bandwidth value, you can set it only to a higher value.

  • SAG CPE instances support up to 500 Mbit/s of bandwidth. You can increase the maximum bandwidth value by a multiple of 10.

Upgrades of SAG CPE and vCPE instances typically immediately take effect. However, upgrades may be delayed by high network latency. You may need to wait a few minutes.

You need to pay the price difference generated by the upgrade.

You can upgrade your SAG CPE and vCPE instances if the maximum bandwidth cannot meet your business requirements.

  1. Log on to the SAG console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region.
  3. On the Smart Access Gateway page, find the SAG instance that you want to manage and choose More icon > Upgrade in the Actions column.

  4. On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, set the Peak Bandwidth parameter, read and select the terms of service, click Buy Now, and then complete the payment.

Upgrade an SAG app instance

Before you perform an upgrade, take note of the following items:

Limit

Effective time

Impacts on billing

Scenario

When you change the maximum number of client accounts supported by an SAG app instance, you can set the number only to a higher value.

Upgrades of SAG app instances typically immediately take effect. However, upgrades may be delayed by high network latency. You may need to wait a few minutes.

After you perform an upgrade, you need to pay the price difference generated by the upgrade on the maximum number of client accounts supported by the SAG app instance.

If the maximum number of client accounts supported by your SAG app instance cannot meet your business requirements, you can upgrade the SAG app instance.

  1. Log on to the SAG console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Smart Access Gateway App > SAG App Instances.
  4. On the SAG App Instances page, find the SAG app instance that you want to manage and choose More icon > Upgrade in the Actions column.

  5. On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, set the Number of Client Accounts parameter, read and select the terms of service, click Buy Now, and then complete the payment.

Upgrade an application acceleration bandwidth plan

Before you perform an upgrade, take note of the following items:

Effective time

Impacts on billing

Scenario

Upgrades of application acceleration bandwidth plans typically immediately take effect. However, upgrades may be delayed by high network latency. You may need to wait a few minutes.

You need to pay the price difference generated by the upgrade.

If the maximum bandwidth value of your application acceleration bandwidth plan cannot meet your business requirements, you can upgrade the bandwidth plan to increase the maximum bandwidth.

  1. Log on to the SAG console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Application Acceleration Plan.
  4. On the Application Acceleration Plan page, find the application acceleration plan and click Upgrade in the Actions column.
  5. On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, set the Bandwidth Cap parameter, read and select the terms of service, click Buy Now, and then complete the payment.

Temporary upgrades

Warning

When a temporary upgrade ends, transient connections may occur during the rollback because the bandwidth is rolled back to the previous value which is smaller. Packets may be dropped due to bandwidth throttling. Proceed with caution.

Before you perform an upgrade, take note of the following items:

Limit

Effective time

Scenario

Only SAG CPE and vCPE instances support temporary upgrades.

Temporary upgrades typically immediately take effect. However, upgrades may be delayed by high network latency. You may need to wait a few minutes.

You can temporarily upgrade an SAG instance in scenarios such as sales promotions and online operations activities during holidays. A temporary upgrade allows you to temporarily increase the maximum bandwidth value of an SAG instance. When the temporary upgrade ends, the maximum bandwidth is automatically rolled back to the previous value. Temporary upgrade rules:

  • The minimum upgrade duration is five days. You are charged on an hourly basis. The upgraded bandwidth takes effect immediately after the payment is completed. Your workloads are not interrupted during the upgrade process.

  • When a temporary upgrade ends, the bandwidth is rolled back to the previous value. Your workloads remain uninterrupted during the rollback process. However, transient connections may occur. We recommend that you configure a reconnecting mechanism for your backend applications.

  • The latest rollback time that you can set for a temporary upgrade is one day before the expiration time of the SAG instance.

For example, if your SAG instance expires at 00:00:00, November 18, 2021, the latest rollback time you can set is 00:00:00, November 17, 2021.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the SAG console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region.
  3. On the Smart Access Gateway page, find the SAG instance that you want to manage and choose More > Temporary Upgrade in the Actions column.

  4. On the Temporary Upgrade page, set the Peak Bandwidth and Restore Time parameters, read and select the terms of service, click Buy Now, and then complete the payment.

Downgrades

Note

If you want to downgrade an SAG CPE instance, an SAG vCPE instance, or an SAG app instance, submit a ticket.

Downgrade an application acceleration bandwidth plan

Before you perform an upgrade, take note of the following items:

Effective time

Impacts on billing

Scenario

Downgrades of application acceleration bandwidth plans typically immediately take effect. However, downgrades may be delayed by high network latency. You may need to wait a few minutes.

Downgrades may generate refunds. The amount of refund on the order page shall prevail. For more information, see Request a refund for the downgrade of resource specifications.

If your business no longer requires a high bandwidth value, you can downgrade the application acceleration bandwidth plan to prevent resource waste.

  1. Log on to the SAG console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Application Acceleration Plan.
  4. On the Application Acceleration Plan page, find the application acceleration plan and click Downgrade in the Actions column.
  5. On the Downgrade page, set the Bandwidth Cap parameter, read and select the terms of service, and then click Buy Now.
