Back up and restore data across Alibaba Cloud accounts

Last Updated: Aug 20, 2020

You can back up and restore data across Alibaba Cloud accounts for cloud databases that support the logical backup feature of DBS. Such cloud databases include ApsaraDB for RDS, ApsaraDB for Redis, ApsaraDB for Memcache, ApsaraDB for MongoDB, Apsara PolarDB, and on-premises user-created databases connected to Alibaba Cloud through Express Connect, VPN gateways, and smart access gateways. This topic describes how to use DBS to back up and restore data of ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL across Alibaba Cloud accounts.

Prerequisites

The Alibaba Cloud account to which the source instance belongs has authorized the RAM role of DBS to access cloud resources of the account. The Alibaba Cloud account to which the destination instance belongs is a trusted cloud account that is allowed to access the cloud resources managed by the Alibaba Cloud account to which the source instance belongs by using DBS. For more information, see Authorize RAM roles for data backup or restore across Alibaba Cloud accounts.

Configure backup across Alibaba Cloud accounts

Procedure

  1. Log on to the DBS console with the Alibaba Cloud account to which the destination instance belongs.

  2. In the Information message that appears, click OK to automatically enable the default DBS alert rule.

If this message is not displayed when you are logged on to the DBS console, the DBS alert rule has been enabled. You can go to the subsequent steps. For more information about the alert rules, see Alert rules.
