Change or set the control mode

This topic describes how to change or set the control mode of an instance.

Background

Data Management Service (DMS) provides three control modes for you to manage instances, that is, Flexible Management, Stable Change, and Secure Collaboration. For more information about the control modes, see Control modes.

Method 1: Open the Edit instance dialog box through the top navigation bar and change the control mode

  1. Log on to the DMS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, choose System Management > Instance.
  3. On the Instance List tab of the Instance page, find the target instance, move the pointer over More in the Actions column, and then select Edit instance.Change the control mode 2
  4. In the Edit instance dialog box that appears, select a control mode from the Control Mode drop-down list based on your business requirements.

    If you set Control Mode to common, you also need to set the Security Rules parameter. For more information about the control modes, see Control modes.

Method 2: Open the Edit instance dialog box through the left-side navigation pane and change the control mode

  1. Log on to the DMS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, right-click the target instance.

  3. From the menu that appears, select Edit instance.Change the control mode 4

  4. In the Edit instance dialog box that appears, select a control mode from the Control Mode drop-down list based on your business requirements.

    If you set Control Mode to common, you also need to set the Security Rules parameter. For more information about the control modes, see Control modes.

Method 3: Change the control mode in the left-side navigation pane

  1. Log on to the DMS console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, right-click the target instance.
  3. In the menu that appears, move the pointer over Control Mode and select a control mode based on your business requirements from the submenu.

    If you set Control Mode to common, you also need to select a security rule. For more information about the control modes, see Control modes.
