Last Updated: May 08, 2020

You can enable or disable an instance during use based on your business requirements. This topic describes how to enable and disable an instance in the Data Management Service (DMS) console.

Prerequisites

You are a database administrator (DBA) or a DMS administrator.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the DMS console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, choose System Management > Instance.

  3. On the Instance List tab of the Instance page, enable or disable an instance based on your business requirements.

    • Disable an instance

      1. On the Instance List tab, select the target instance that you want to disable.

      2. Click Forbidden instance in the upper part of the tab.

After an instance is disabled, it is removed from the left-side navigation pane, and you can no longer find the databases and tables of the instance in the DMS console. We recommend that you proceed with caution.

      3. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.

    • Enable an instance

      1. On the Instance List tab, search for disabled instances by setting the Status filter to Disable.

      2. Select the target instance that you want to enable.

      3. Click Enable instance in the upper part of the tab.

After an instance is enabled, it appears in the left-side navigation pane, and you can use the databases of the instance in the DMS console. The relevant instance permissions that have been granted to users also become valid.

      4. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.
