An ApsaraDB for MyBase dedicated cluster consists of multiple underlying hosts. These hosts can be Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances in the i2 instance family or ECS Bare Metal instances. If you use local SSDs, you need only to pay for the hosts that you use. In an ApsaraDB for MyBase dedicated cluster, you can allocate resources and deploy database instances based on your business requirements. In addition, you can configure an overcommit ratio for a specific type of resource to increase resource utilization and cost-effectiveness. ApsaraDB for MyBase can meet more of your business requirements than conventional database services.

Features

ApsaraDB MyBase allows you to manage multiple instances in a dedicated cluster. You can create multiple dedicated clusters in a region. Each dedicated cluster can contain multiple hosts and each host can deploy multiple instances.

ApsaraDB MyBase provides the following features for dedicated clusters:

  • Resource scheduling: You can configure an overcommit ratio for each type of resource to maximize the resource usage. Resources are divided into multiple types, such as CPU, memory, storage capacity, IOPS, and network traffic.
  • Host management: A host serves as a carrier for ApsaraDB MyBase resources. You can manage hosts. For example, you can add, replace, and connect to hosts. You can also specify whether instances can be allocated to a host.
  • Instance management: You can manage the primary instance, secondary instances, read-only instances, and instances that are used to store log entries.

The costs of a host that uses local SSDs contain both computing and storage fees. You do not need to pay additional storage fees when you create instances on the host.

The costs of a host that uses enhanced SSDs (ESSDs) contain only computing fees. You need to pay for storage when you create instances on the host.

  • A bill is generated per hour, and costs are deducted from your Alibaba Cloud account.
  • For short-term use, we recommend that you select the pay-as-you-go billing method. If you no longer need a pay-as-you-go instance, you can release the instance to reduce costs.

Instance fees = Unit storage price of an instance that uses ESSDs × Storage capacity × Usage duration.

Note Storage plans can be used to offset the storage fees of instances that use ESSDs within the same region. You can purchase storage plans on demand to reduce storage costs.

Get started with ApsaraDB MyBase

  1. Create a dedicated cluster

    You must create an ApsaraDB MyBase dedicated cluster before you use the features of ApsaraDB MyBase. A dedicated cluster is formerly known as a host group.

    Note After a dedicated cluster is created, you can view, modify, or delete it. For more information, see Manage ApsaraDB MyBase dedicated clusters.
  2. Create a host

    After you create the ApsaraDB MyBase dedicated cluster, create hosts in the ApsaraDB MyBase dedicated cluster.

  3. Create an instance

    After you create hosts in the ApsaraDB MyBase dedicated cluster, create instances on the hosts. The system allocates the created instances to the hosts in the ApsaraDB MyBase dedicated cluster based on the specified resource allocation policy.

  4. Migrate data to ApsaraDB MyBase

    After you create instances in the ApsaraDB MyBase dedicated cluster, you can migrate data from your databases to the instances. You can use Data Transmission Service (DTS) to read data from the instances in the ApsaraDB MyBase dedicated cluster.
