To help tenants connect their premises data centers to Alibaba Cloud by using leased lines, you must meet the following requirements.

  • Provide two or more redundant leased lines as a qualified service provider to connect to different access points of Alibaba Cloud. You have access to related network services. To apply for network product services, consult your account manager.
  • If you want to connect to Alibaba Cloud, you must comply with the following requirements: Network requirements.
  • Install switches that supports bandwidth management and traffic monitoring to interconnect with tenants.
  • Manage the bandwidth of your tenants and make sure that the total bandwidth of the allocated Virtual Border Routers (VBRs) does not exceed the bandwidth assigned by Alibaba Cloud.
  • Set up quality of service (QoS) rules for the on-premises gateways to enable network traffic throttling.
  • Limit the rate of Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) packets on the access device of the tenants. Set the limit to 1 packet per second (PPS) per tenant.
  • Do not use the CIDR block 100.64.0.0/10 to communicate with the VBR in the cloud.
  • If the service providers limit the rate for Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) packets, make sure that the rate limit for ICMP packets is greater than 500 ICMP echo request packets per second.
  • Provide multiple redundant VBRs assigned to different physical connections if your tenants require high availability.
  • Enable network traffic monitoring on your switch to monitor changes of network traffic transmitted between a leased line and the connected on-premises data center. Monitored data includes the following parameters of both normal traffic and lost packets: the traffic rate in bit/s, the packet rate in PPS, and the number of bytes.
