Global Accelerator:Limits

Last Updated:Jan 19, 2024

Before you use an Alibaba Cloud service, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the considerations and limitations of the service. This topic describes the considerations and limitations of Global Accelerator (GA) instances.

Limits on instance types

The following table describes the limitations of standard GA instances and basic GA instances.全球加速选型限制

  • You can select the instance specification and the type of accelerated IP address only when you create a subscription standard GA instance.

  • Pay-as-you-go GA instances support only the pay-by-data-transfer bandwidth metering method.

  • If you want to use Anycast elastic IP addresses (Anycast EIPs) as accelerated IP addresses, the GA instances and basic bandwidth plans must meet the following requirements:

    • GA instances: You must select subscription standard GA instances whose specifications are Large Ⅰ or higher and whose bandwidth metering methods are pay-by-bandwidth.

    • Basic bandwidth plans: You must select the premium bandwidth type and the pay-by-data-transfer metering method.

  • You can associate only subscription basic bandwidth plans that provide basic or premium bandwidth with basic GA instances that use the pay-by-bandwidth bandwidth metering method.

Note
  • GA instances whose specifications are Large III or higher are unavailable by default. To use these instances, contact your account manager.

  • By default, you cannot use Anycast EIPs as accelerated IP addresses. To use Anycast EIPs as accelerated IP addresses, go to the Quota Center console, find the quota named GA supports anycast, and then click Apply in the Actions column. For more information, see the "Adjust quotas" section of the Manage GA quotas topic.

  • By default, pay-as-you-go basic bandwidth plans are unavailable. To use these plans, contact your account manager.

The maximum number of GA instances that can be created in each Alibaba Cloud account

10

Unlimited

You can request a quota increase only for standard GA instances.

You can increase quotas for a GA instance in the Quota Center or on the Quota Management page. For more information, see the "Adjust quotas" section of the Manage GA quotas topic.

The types of endpoints that can be associated with a GA instance

  • On Alibaba Cloud: Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances, elastic network interfaces (ENIs), Classic Load Balancer (CLB) instances, Application Load Balancer (ALB) instances, Network Load Balancer (NLB) instances, Object Storage Service (OSS) buckets, Alibaba Cloud public IP addresses, and vSwitches.

  • Outside Alibaba Cloud: custom IP addresses and custom domain names of origin servers.

Note

For more information, see Overview of endpoint groups and endpoints.

Acceleration areas supported by GA

China North, China South, China East, China Southwest, Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, South America, and Middle East

Note

You can also specify regions in each acceleration area. For more information, see Acceleration areas and regions for standard GA instances and Acceleration areas and regions for basic GA instances.

N/A

Types of accelerated IP addresses supported by GA

  • Elastic IP Address (EIP)

  • Anycast EIP

Note

For more information, see Accelerated IP addresses.

EIP (default)

N/A

The maximum number of accelerated IP addresses that can be added to each GA instance

Determined by the type of accelerated IP address and the billing method of the GA instance:

  • If you select EIP as the type of accelerated IP address:

    • Subscription GA instances: The number of accelerated IP addresses is equal to the number of acceleration regions. GA allocates a separate accelerated IP address to each acceleration region.

    • Pay-as-you-go GA instances: Two accelerated IP addresses can be allocated to each acceleration region.

  • If you select Anycast EIP as the type of accelerated IP address, GA allocates the same accelerated IP address to multiple regions around the world.

You can increase quotas for a GA instance in the Quota Center or on the Quota Management page. For more information, see the "Adjust quotas" section of the Manage GA quotas topic.

  • Intelligent routing listeners:

    • For each TCP or UDP listener: 30

    • For each HTTP or HTTPS listener: 1

  • Custom routing listeners: 65,499

You can request more ports only for intelligent routing listeners that use TCP or UDP.
