In which scenarios does an Alibaba Cloud account that I just created become invalid?

An Alibaba Cloud account becomes invalid in the following two scenarios:

  • The owner of the Alibaba Cloud account does not confirm the creation within 24 hours.
  • The email address you specified has been used for an existing Alibaba Cloud account.

Is there a limit on the period within which the owner of the Alibaba Cloud account that I just created must confirm the creation?

Yes. The owner must confirm the creation within 24 hours. After 24 hours, the creation becomes invalid and cannot be enabled again.

What do I do if the owner of the Alibaba Cloud account that I just created does not receive a confirmation email?

In the navigation tree of the Resource Directory page, find the folder to which the member account belongs and click the folder name. In the section that appears, find the member account and click Send Confirmation Email Again in the Actions column.

Note This does not prolong the confirmation process. After a new confirmation email is sent, the original confirmation email becomes invalid, but the owner of the member account still needs to confirm the creation from the new confirmation email before the original expiration time.

Can I cancel the creation of an Alibaba Cloud account?

Yes. In the navigation tree of the Resource Directory page, find the folder to which the member account belongs and click the folder name. In the section that appears, find the member account and click Cancel in the Actions column.

Note After the creation is canceled, the confirmation email becomes invalid.

How many types of invalid creation are there?

There are two types of invalid creation: canceled creation and failed creation.

Can I delete an invalid creation?

Yes. In the navigation tree of the Resource Directory page, find the folder to which the member account belongs and click the folder name. In the section that appears, find the member account and click Delete Record in the Actions column.

Note You can delete invalid accounts to obtain a member account list that only contains valid records.

Can I access a member account as the root user?

This depends on the type of the member account.

  • You are not allowed to access a resource account as the root user.
  • For information about how to access an Alibaba Cloud account as the root user, see Use the root user to access a member account.
    Note For security purposes, we recommend that you use a RAM user or role to access member accounts.

Can I remove a member account from the resource directory?

This depends on the type of the member account.

Note After a member account is removed from the resource directory, the following issues occur:
  • The policy that is attached to this member account based on the resource directory becomes invalid, and the member account is no longer controlled by the administrator of the resource directory.
  • If the owner of the member account cannot pay its outstanding bills, the relevant services are stopped.
