You can view monitoring information about region connections by using CloudMonitor. You can also create threshold-based alert rules to monitor the bandwidth usage of region connections to prevent service interruptions caused by resource exhaustion.

View monitoring information about a region connection

  1. Log on to CEN console.
  2. On the Instances page, find the CEN instance that you want to manage and click its ID.
  3. On the instance details page, click the Region Connections tab.
  4. On the Region Connections tab, find the region connection that you want to manage and click the The Monitor icon icon in the Monitor column to view monitoring information about the region connection.

By default, the system displays monitoring data collected within the last hour. You can also choose to view monitoring data collected within the last 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, or the last day by selecting an option from the drop-down list in the upper-left corner of the Monitoring page. You can also specify a custom time period.

    • Outbound Bandwidth by Region: the bandwidth usage of the region connection. Unit: bit/s. This is the default unit.
This monitoring metric consists of two items. The system displays the following information for two connected regions, such as Region A and Region B:
      • The usage of the bandwidth for data transfer from Region A to Region B.
      • The usage of the bandwidth for data transfer from Region B to Region A.

You can select Kbit/s, Mbit/s, or Gbit/s from the drop-down list next to a monitored item.

    • Percentage of Outbound Bandwidth by Region: the percentage of the used bandwidth to the total bandwidth.
This monitoring metric consists of two items. The system displays the following information for two connected regions, such as Region A and Region B:
      • The percentage of the bandwidth used for data transfer from Region A to Region B to the total bandwidth.
      • The percentage of the bandwidth used for data transfer from Region B to Region A to the total bandwidth.
    • Latency: the network latency between connected regions. Unit: milliseconds.
    • Packet Loss Rate: the packet loss rate of the data transfer caused by traffic throttling. Unit: pps.
This monitoring metric consists of two items. The system displays the following information for two connected regions, such as Region A and Region B:
      • The packet loss rate of the data transfer from Region A to Region B caused by traffic throttling.
      • The packet loss rate of the data transfer from Region B to Region A caused by traffic throttling.

Create a threshold-based alert rule for a region connection

  1. Log on to CEN console.
  2. On the Instances page, find the CEN instance that you want to manage and click its ID.
  3. On the instance details page, click the Region Connections tab.
  4. On the Region Connections tab, find the region connection that you want to manage and click Set Alarm in the Monitor column.
  5. On the Alert Rules page, click Create Alert Rule.
  6. On the Create Alert Rule page, select CEN-Region for Product, set the parameters, and then click OK.
You can configure alert rules based on metrics such as packet loss rate, outbound bandwidth by region, and percentage of outbound bandwidth by region. For more information, see Create a threshold-triggered alert rule.
