This topic describes the event history feature of ApsaraDB for RDS. You can enable this feature to view O&M logs of events generated by you or Alibaba Cloud. Logs store details of events such as instance creation and parameter modification.

Billing

You can use this feature for free during the public preview and will be notified of the charges after the public preview.

Scenarios

  • Track instance management operations.
  • Audit instance operations for security.
  • Audit the management compliance of cloud service providers for security-demanding industries such as finance and government.

Enable event history

  1. Log on to the ApsaraDB for RDS console.
  2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select the target region.

Event history parameters

Details about historical events are displayed on the Event History page of ApsaraDB for RDS. Historical event details include the resource type, resource name, and event type. They are described as follows.
Parameter Description
Resource Type The RDS resource type. The resource type can only be Instance.
Resource Name The RDS resource name. After you set Resource Type to Instance, the instance ID is displayed in the Resource Name column.
Event Type The type of the event, which can be Instance Management, Database Management, Read/Write Splitting, or Network. For more information, see Events.
Event Name The name of the event. Some example event names of Instance Management are Create Instance, Delete Instance, Change Specifications, and Restart Instance. For more information, see Events.
Run At The time when the event was executed.
User Type The initiator of the event. Valid values:
  • User: uses the console or API operations to initiate actions.
  • System: performs automatic O&M or periodic system tasks.
  • Internal O&M personnel: uses the O&M system to initiate actions.
Cause The cause of the event. Events can be triggered by the following types of actions:
  • Actions initiated in the console or through API operations
  • System or manual O&M actions
Parameter The request parameters used to initiate actions in the console.
Note
  • The latency of collected event history to be displayed is about five minutes.
  • Events are displayed by region. To view events occurred in other regions, you can switch the region in the console.
