This topic describes how to resize a subscription bandwidth plan. Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) allows you to resize subscription bandwidth plans based on your business requirements.
Background information
- Billing rules for upgrades
Upgrade fee = Cost of upgraded plan – Cost of original plan. Where: Cost of upgraded plan = (Monthly price of new plan/Number of calendar days in the month/24 hours) × Remaining subscription duration. Cost of original plan = (Monthly price of original plan/Number of calendar days in the month/24 hours) × Remaining subscription duration.
- Billing rules for downgrades
Downgrade fee = Cost of downgraded plan - Refund of CEN instance. Where: Cost of downgraded plan = (Monthly price of new plan/Number of calendar days in the month/24 hours) × Remaining subscription duration. The refund is based on only the amount deducted from your account balance.
Note Before you perform a downgrade, pay attention to the following considerations:- A credit balance is used to pay for the original order.
When you perform a downgrade, only the amount that was deducted from your account balance is refunded. The amount that was offset by the credit balance is not refundable.
- A discount is applied to the original order.
For example, CEN offers a 15% discount if the subscription duration of the bandwidth plan is one year or longer, and the catalog price of the bandwidth plan is USD 1,000. In this case, the final payment amount is USD 850. When you perform a downgrade, the refund is calculated based on the discounted amount, which is USD 850.
- A credit balance is used to pay for the original order.
- Examples
On May 1, Alice purchased a subscription bandwidth plan of 2 Mbit/s for three months. The bandwidth plan enables data transmission between regions inside mainland China. In the following examples, one month equals 30 days. The monthly price of the bandwidth plan is USD 68. In this case, the fee for a three-month subscription is USD 204.
- One month after using the bandwidth plan, Alice upgraded the bandwidth plan to 4 Mbit/s.
The monthly price of a 4 Mbit/s bandwidth plan is USD 136. In this case, the upgrade
fee is USD 136. The system calculates the upgrade fee based on the following formula:
Upgrade fee = Hourly price (USD 136/30 days/24 hours) × 2 months (60 days × 24 hours) - Hourly price (USD 68/30 days/24 hours) × 2 months (60 days × 24 hours) = USD 136
- In the previous example, Alice upgraded the subscription bandwidth plan to 4 Mbit/s
on June 1. An upgrade fee of USD 136 was deducted from her account balance. On July
1, Alice downgraded the bandwidth to 2 Mbit/s. The monthly price of a 2 Mbit/s bandwidth
plan is USD 68. The downgrade generates a refund of USD 68. The refunded fee is displayed
on the details page of the order. The system calculates the downgrade fee based on
the following formula:
Downgrade fee = Hourly price (USD 68/30 days/24 hours) × 1 month (30 days × 24 hours) - Hourly price (USD 204/90 days/24 hours) × 1 month (30 days × 24 hours) + Hourly price (USD 136/60 days/24 hours) × 1 month (30 days × 24 hours) = –USD 68
