This topic describes how to resize a subscription bandwidth plan. Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) allows you to resize a subscription bandwidth plan as needed.

Background information

CEN allows you to resize a subscription bandwidth plan. After you perform an upgrade or downgrade, the new bandwidth immediately takes effect. Before you perform an upgrade or downgrade, make sure that you have read and understood the following billing rules.
  • Billing rules for upgrades

Fees of an upgrade = Fees of the new bandwidth [Hourly price (Monthly price of the new bandwidth/Number of calendar days in the month/24 hours) × Remaining subscription duration] - Fees of the previous bandwidth [Hourly price (Monthly price of the previous bandwidth/Number of calendar days in the month/24 hours) × Remaining subscription duration

Example: On May 1, you purchase a subscription bandwidth plan of 2 Mbit/s. The subscription duration is three months. The monthly price of the bandwidth plan is CNY 440. Therefore, you need to pay CNY 1,320 for the bandwidth plan. One month (30 calendar days in this example) after you have used the bandwidth plan, you upgrade the bandwidth to 4 Mbit/s. The monthly price of a 4 Mbit/s bandwidth plan is CNY 880. The upgrade fees are calculated as follows: Fees of the upgrade = Fees of the new bandwidth (Hourly price (CNY 880/30 days/24 hours)] × 2 months (60 days × 24 hours)] - Fees of the previous bandwidth (Hourly price (CNY 440/30 days/24 hours)] × 2 months (60 days × 24 hours)] = CNY 880. Therefore, you need to pay CNY 880 for the upgrade.

  • Billing rules for downgrades

Fees of a downgrade = Fees of the new bandwidth [(Hourly price (Monthly price of the new bandwidth/Number of calendar days in the month/24 hours) × Remaining subscription duration] - Refund of the instance (Refund from the purchase or renewal order, and only the amount deducted from your account balance is refundable)

The upgraded bandwidth plan in the preceding example is used in this example to demonstrate how the fees of a downgrade are calculated. In the previous example, you upgraded the subscription bandwidth plan to 4 Mbit/s on June 1, and CNY 880 was deducted from your account balance to pay for the upgrade. On July 1, you downgrade the bandwidth to 2 Mbit/s. The monthly price of a 2 Mbit/s bandwidth plan is CNY 440. The downgrade fees are calculated as follows: Fees of the downgrade = Fees of the new bandwidth [(Hourly price (CNY 440/30 days/24 hours) × 1 month (30 days × 24 hours)] - Refund of the CEN instance [(Hour price (CNY 1,320/90 days/24 hours) × 1 month (30 days × 24 hours) + Hourly price (CNY 880/60 days/24 hours) × 1 month (30 days × 24 hours)] = CNY -440. The downgrade generates a final refund of CNY 440. You can check the amount to be refunded in the details of the downgrade order.

Before you perform a downgrade, pay attention to the following considerations:
  • You used credit balance to pay for the previous order.

When the system calculates the fees of a downgrade, only the amount that was deducted from your account balance is refundable. The amount that was offset by credit balance is not refundable.

  • You applied a discount to pay for the previous order.

Assume that CEN offers a 15% discount if the subscription duration of the bandwidth plan is one year or longer, and the catalog price of the bandwidth plan is CNY 1,000. In this case, the final amount that must be paid is CNY 850. When the system calculates the fees of a downgrade, the refund is calculated based on the CNY 850.
