Delete a subdomain | If you delete a subdomain, DNS records of the subdomain are deleted and cannot be restored. |

Limits on editions | You must use either the free edition or paid edition of Alibaba Cloud DNS for both the primary domain and the subdomain. |
Change the owner of a domain name | If you change the owner of a primary domain, DNS records of the primary domain are transferred to the new account, but DNS records of the subdomain are not transferred. |

Limits on subdomain levels of the primary domain and subdomain | The free edition of Alibaba Cloud DNS supports five levels of subdomains. For example, if 1.aliyun.com is a subdomain, the host record can be 5.4.3.2.1.aliyun.com. The paid edition of Alibaba Cloud DNS supports ten levels of subdomains. |
Add a subdomain when both the subdomain and the primary domain are hosted by Alibaba Cloud DNS
After you add a subdomain, subdomain names in the primary domain are automatically synchronized to this subdomain. The following examples describe how subdomain names in the primary domain and DNS records of the subdomain are automatically synchronized.
Example 1
The primary domain is a.com and the subdomain is c.b.a.com. These domains are hosted by different service providers. The following table lists the subdomain settings of the primary domain.

Add a subdomain when the primary domain is not hosted by Alibaba Cloud DNS
If the primary domain is not hosted by Alibaba Cloud DNS, it is not displayed in the domain name list in the Alibaba Cloud DNS console. In this case, when you add a subdomain, you need to add DNS records to the subdomain. The added rules refer to the scenario where the primary domain and the subdomain are in the same Alibaba Cloud DNS.
